Why are you guys talking UVB in the FR thread :confused:o_O. And Bobby where are your pix? You don't even grow do you? I bet you can make a helluva flashlight, huh?
obsess much?

im here to learn and help other learn, im not here to impress anyone. believe it or not, there was a time (probably before you were born) where it was an 100% underground art, and i remember Ed Rosenthal's advice from when i first got started in 1991... "everything really should be on a need-to-know-basis". And ive seen plenty of shit-talking heady clowns get busted or robbed in that time. Times may be a changin but old habits die hard.

even getting on the forums within the last year was a big leap for me. Perhaps when its legal in my state i will share some pics, but again im not here to impress anybody. So perhaps you and @onehitwonder can chill the fuck out. I really dont want to be in your heady club anyway.... there are far too many other cool people on here for me to give a shit what you guys think.

Frans a personal favorite of many here, and hated, no in between ;) you just haven't been around long enough to catch onto his demeanor. (Constant jokes at each other)

I'm sure you guys are closer in age than you'd expect.

Let's keep it fun fellas,

@guod wouldn't me download that pdf for some reason, you feel real about those nms or you just blowing air up our asses too? Lol (haven't even done a simple Google yet)

For something that's only on 5-15 minutes a day, I'm all about cheap. Plus with the semileds, you can space them accordingly to be able to actually be of purpose.
as you can with stars from rapidled or cutter.

i decided on triples for 660 but singles for 730

Progress!!! 2 inner beams have been put together. It's a ton of work because the bolts I have are so short. But it's good cause it's so flush with the nut. But with the u channeling, I'll be cutting 2 notches out that will sit on 2 equally distanced scres on my diy light so they can be taken on and off.

Got the semileds thermal glued on! Now I'm just trying to figure out how to add a cord to this APC 35 700. It's got blue and brown. No green. So do I just use a standard 2 prong plug and connect pos/post neg/neg?20160423_204822.jpg 20160423_204806.jpg

So it's black to brown, and white to blue, leaving the ground unused on a 3 prong cord? Or should I use a simpler household 2 prong cord with just black and white since the ground would be completely unused?

any sufficiently large piece of equipment, whether it be a house, or an appliance, or a vehicle, has a chassis ground. point is to semi-safely discharge a short. keeps it from being hot and creating dangerous potential.

in the 70s ace frehley got shocked by a live railing in the ornate kiss stage setups. thats a short with potential at the railing and ace grounding it with his body. a proper ground woulda shorted the circuit instead of keeping random metallic fixture at a high potential

best thing for grounding are the brass or aluminum square lugs , they make many many variations of these

or failing that, just a real secure connection around a ground screw (curl the end of the wire like they do for receptacles or motor grounding)

if done carefully its as good as a lug.

Ya, I just will use a ring connector crimped to the ground wire and screw it down. The ones that cone in the set from harbor freight. Red blue and yellow. Like what's used in car audio.

It's not obsession with you, it's obsession with phony ass posers like you who just show up and start shooting off their mouths. People with ulterior motives, which this place is full of nowadays, so I will be on your shit like white on rice till you start proving what you know. That's the price of admission (Hi Mongo!). It's not a one way street. So no more lame excuses about your Internet connection or banditos out to get you. Where's your pics? As far as I can tell you're some flashlight maker feeding your ego. Or someone from CREE Mr Lumens Per Watt.

@Growmau5 I'm having such a hard time soldering these semi leds to this 22 gauge wire. I don't know what's up. If it's the solder I'm using or the flux? But it just doesn't get a wire hot. I can only melt rhe solder by pushing it into the curved tip of the iron. Big globs finally fall off like a droplet of water. I can't just touch them together and boom. Wtf is wrong?
