The Flu..

Media Hype? or are people around you getting sick? In Ca It's said to not have been hard hit yet (most kids are not in school... where I am ) so I think that may be keeping it down a bit here locally..

did you get the shot?

No shots. The flu rarely bugs me. It's not just a "scare" ... This time there's an actual epidemic (in the mid-western US and on the mid-eastern coast at least.) I've gotten the flu a couple times in my years (literally like 3 or 4) and have never died from it, so... Here's hoping my plan to live forever by not dying keeps working.

Yes, got my shot for the 1st time EVER and I'm 56. In my state (Mid-Atlantic area), they have identified 26 pockets of infestation and E.R.'s are over- loaded. They are telling people like a 5 hour wait to see someone. Worst hasn't hit yet either........I think there's like 15 child deaths already in the U.S. too. Lastly, it seems everyone I talk to or hear about is sick. Going to be a bad winter I guess.

NE is being hit good not just with the flu but some stomach virus accompanying it which is making it way worse. I do get the flu shot every year. I have had quite a few people out sick with the flu this week alone.

Never get the shot.

Haven't been sick with the flu for years and the common cold is basically non-existent.

guess there's something to be said for those folks who didnt finish those anti-biotics way back when to doc said to! Flu's are getting really really nasty, I am apprehensive to take anty "flu" shot from big pharma thankyou verymuch!demotivators_picdump_08.jpg

The flu is a Virus, antibiotics treat bacterial infections.
Antivirals, vaccines (for prevention) and retrovirals treat virus infections. But, so far only vaccines actually work.

I don't get a shot but...
I stay home and only go out for shopping, I have extra pipes so we don't share germs and clean them after their used.
But next week I start watching my granddaughter and grandson, I'm doomed :)..
I got the flu last year so I'm good to go, I put more trust in myself than a government that lies to it's citizens all the time.

only 62% of the time..
59% in school was a F
I was just coming in here to link to the CDC's report on the outbreak ... 47 states, 62% effective.
I went to private school. Anything lower than a C- was a fail. and our F was at like 68%

The Virus...evolution at it's finest

I think parasites are where it's at... Yeah, they evolve slower, but they evolve so much more twisted! Seriously, which is a more bad ass way to die? Coughing, and a fever, or a 15 meter worm starving you to death and eating you FROM THE INSIDE?

A nice side note! Remember, with MOST FLU STRAINS (H1* and H5* especially) the influenza virus doesn't kill you, you commit suicide without knowing it! Your body kills itself in a frenzy! Also, I don't know about the current outbreak's characteristics, but the last few (and the big Spanish Flu outbreak) the largest pool of dead are HEALTHY ADULT MALES between 16-40.

i for one don't trust those cocksuckers ( big pharma) and refuse to subject myself to any of their so called shots... i'll take me chances with the flu, which i haven't had in a good 2 decades or so mind you..

something about sitting around all day watching one commercial about the new cure all drug pushed by big pharma, immediately followed by a law firm with a class action suit against the last new cure all drug has really turned me off from trusting any and all big pharma products for the most part...

If your were talking about your plants and there is only one prevention that gives you 62% success, wouldn't you try it?

Here is how I see it
If you are older 65+ or young <7 I would say get the shot.. your normal immunity is low and has yet to build up it's abilities to fight an big infection... Most of us are healthy enough to withstand the virus on it's own we have been subjected to it or forms of it for ages. Most people who get the shot do so, so that when and if they do get the virus it will be short lived..

the shot they give you is a dead flu virus (may or may not be the same virus you have) it contains Thimerosal (made from mercury) i'd list more as there are pros and cons on each

That is AWESOME! Seriously. I fuckin' love this. Dude, you realize that we're talkin' about our own lives, right? If making a plant comparison is a viable argumentative device, I think we're kinda' fucked with our value structure, and maybe we should ALL skip the shot this year!

I actually did had the flu about a month ago. I get sick once every few years otherwise my immune system is usually pretty good. Havnt even seen a doctor in idk how long. Many years.
