The fox's den with pics

Ok well here is some pics of my first grow in a few years. This is my first attempt at SCROG. I used to grow in SOG many years ago using MH an HPS. I had much more room to work with back then. I ran into some technical difficulties pertaining to water quality as well as tweeking the soil mix since I couldnt find the stuff I used to use. Arizona water qaulity was fixed by an RO filter. The soil I realize that I am no longer operatating on a large scale so I will be springing for Fox farm line up or promix if I can find it as far as soil goes.

The grow cabinet is made from the box my night stand came in. It was a pretty nice peice of furniture so it was well protected. It had partical board frame around it. So there was not much work involved other than some wood screws and washers to make it solid. The cardboard is also very simple to modify to run all the cords and such. Duct tape, Wax coated string, zipties and wood scraps was my best friends as you can tell. I will be builting a nicer cabinet latter on down the road with the dims of 36X22X72 all self contained with seperate veg, and flowering chambers. This little fella can be thrown out and stripped of all the goodies when I move. I just think of it as a decent protype that will last a year. I will get better ideas as I already have to make the final rig. The dims are currently 32X22X?..... ..32 inches at least for the box dims. I set it on a big rubbermaid tub to catch all the runoff. It also allows me to change pot size. 2 big ones the 8 smaller ones you see pictured. I shouldnt have any problems with humidity since it is the desert and all. Single chamber will be used for flowering and veg as of now. I will use the patio to store some clones for now. It will give me an idea on how much space is needed. Temp is about 5 degrees warmer than room temp with the HPS. its about 1 degree warmer while using the T-5s

I used to grow using the cheapest soil I could find, Perilite, blood and bone meal, superthrive, and Fox farm bloom formula..... It was not fully organic because the cheap soil was probobly a time realeased kind. This go around I seen MG organtic soil so I started with that added some worm castings, and perilite. I am not sure but something wasnt right with this mix from the get go. I chaulked it up to water qaulity above 1200 ppm, or soil. At least I didnt kill good genetics. So I tinkered around with it. I added FF grow big as a catch all problem solver, and changed the water around the same time. I think I could have gotten away with just using some fish ferts and changing the water. I repoted in the same soil mix adding blood and bone meal and let it cook for a few weeks and making it really hot. I then mix in some poting soil to balance it out. Mollasis is in the cabinet and will be using it as a daily regiment eventually.

The guts of the system is made up of
-400 watt HPS HTG cheapest magnetic
-2 X 24 inch T-5 hydrofarm lights. Nice little peices that can be piggybacked up to 6 or 8 bulbs I belive.
-S&P TD series 6 inch I cant rember if its a 200 or 250
-24x6 carbon filter off of ebay foothill filters
-homemade cool tube using pyrex bake around
-sunbeam ocilating fan...it was tough to find something with enough umph and still fit in the tiny space.

For the cabinet I already I know that I will set up my veg and clone section in the lower portion flowering chamber and carbon scrubber, ballast up top. I did some trial and error stuff. I will be pulling air through the lights first, carbon scrubber than fan. It makes it a whole lot quieter. The fan itself is not loud but the wind noise is annoying. I have a muffler idea too. I guess I am just a very light sleeper. Also I want to hard wire outlets inside each compartment to keep the cord clutter down even further.

The line up from the top left is 1 thi skunk by G13 labs. Only one bean poped out of 5. the other big ones are Serious Seeds AK-47. 2 reg DP blueberry and 2 mazer. AK is about 3 weeks and the blueberry and mazer are at a week old. The little guys on the left in a very CRUDE dwc are the Nirvana NL# 5 that I had many issues with. I fuigure since I had ferts and an air pump laying around....I might as well give it a try to see if it revives them from near death. and the gladware in the back will be used as humidy domes for clones. I think I need to make them taller.

Well I seem to have things working good, I am hoping it just like riding a bicycle....and everything I have learned comes back to me easily.
