Yeah, Seamaiden, you definitely got the best lot out of all of us! It's so weird, they weren't showing sex and then today they all had balls. Ugh. That's what they look like when they start, right? A cluster of little points at the node? Whereas the females get one little point and then pistils.
I still have two Connies in the cab that have yet to show sex. I'm hoping that since they didn't turn up male right off the bat, that might mean they're girls. If both of THOSE turn out to be male, I'm gonna scream. One of them has a single point at the node, so I'm hoping maybe, maybe I'll see pistils coming off of it soon.
I can't even explain how excited I am that I have ONE plant in the cab with visible hairs!! I'm just hoping that since we have another month before the lighting goes 12/12 here, the other 5 plants (3 A/MK, one SMS, one Connie) will at least get big enough to grow a couple of buds. You never know...

Well, I pulled up my three big males outside...SO sad! HOWEVER...one of the hydro Connies has pistils today! Thus far I'm two outta three in the cab. The other one has yet to show sex, but given that it has no sign of balls, I'm hoping it's a girl too! It's just thrilling to see the pistils start to come out. Like...I *grew* that! And I'll get to smoke it too! 
But wait, there's more. After I pulled up the males, I took photos of what I have outside now. I'd like your opinion. I have two A/MKs, two SMSes, and one Connie planted late but WHICH HAS PISTILS TODAY!! She had none yesterday and she sprouted them literally overnight. So I gave her a big ol' dose of Rainbow Mix Bloom (also gave some to my soil cab plant) and did the happy dance. Then I have the two Connie clones I planted yesterday, one of which I now know is female. Is there any chance of them taking root and actually producing buds? All my other plants (pics below) got watered with Superthrive and some of my GroAqua veg nutes. I'm just hoping I can veg 'em as much as possible and get *some* buds off of them. But hey, I now know that she may be small, but I do get to grow at least ONE of those big colas outdoors!! So crazy that out of my 6 surviving Connies, 5 were male. I think we've definitely established that there is a MUCH higher rate of boys than girls with this strain -- hang onto those mother plants!! At least Seamaiden and I have them now!!

I do have "child-bearin'" hips, breasts enough to nurse the world, and, best of all, I go "cush" when you squeeze me. So, I'll be happy to try to be Mother to Conquistador (especially after what Subcool had to say about the line having died out).
The following (in blue, actually the whole thing, but...) was posted BEFORE I pulled my head outta my damned ass and read the rest of the thread.
Alright, lb... let's see here. The males, once they start poppin' balls, are pretty plain to see, although I wish my eyese worked like they used to. I want to be sure I'm being clear enough for you as far as identifying males. So, yes, at the very tip of the newest growth, you'll see what looks almost like the new leaves coming out again, right? But, it looks 'different", it most closely resembles, to me, an emerging head of green wheat, the way the little green hairs poke up. At the base of that then little dingle berries appear.
The females, on the other hand, just keep making new leaves at the growing tip. However! At the nodes, near the calyxes, they will sprout the tiniest little... ok, it looks like a pedunculated salivary gland to me, because it's long. And a hair unfolds out of it, so if you see anything that looks like a loopy hair, THAT's probably a girl with curls.
Now, I've taken some clones of all but two girls (Mystery Seed girls, they just don't look so well, they've had a rough life, definitely smoked too many cigarettes and I just don't like hangin' around broads with that kind of "edge" to 'em, ya know what I mean? Think Lounge Lizard Leila), but have not cloned all the female Conqui's. I think I'll do that today as I freed up another bin, and the first three sets of clones I've taken are still actually lookin' pretty perky.
TO THAT END! IF I can maintain a female line, I will do my best to try to redistribute them. First dibs goes to littlebat, being the Progenetor of Resurrection and all that.
My goal is, between breeding for seeds and cloning, to bring back Conquistador. Extinction is bad! mkay?

If you don't plan to breed, it's a lot easier if you have a bunch of plants to be able to focus your efforts on those that will actually produce for you.

I can hardly wait. I'm watching the women grow their little bud fan leaves, their stalks being be-ribboned by pistillate growth. It's such a trip, just like the pictures.The other one has yet to show sex, but given that it has no sign of balls, I'm hoping it's a girl too! I know, she is big! I hope she gets even bigger, and that she's a she. Note that the A/MKs have doubled in size in the past few days. I'd say I have about three more weeks to veg, so I'm just trying to give them as much Superthrive and veg nutes and sun as possible. I am SO glad I have at least two (hopefully three) girl Connies! I just want some outdoor plants, however teeny they may be. Next year I'll start all girls from clones outside and it'll be a serious garden party.

Is Dr. Pepper common here? Yeah. It's made in Texas, and when I used to live there, eeeverybody drank it. I actually think it's disgustingly sweet. It's distributed by the Coca-Cola Co, is it really hard to get in England? Do you have Mountain Dew? That's the most vile of all our soft drinks. It looks like antifreeze, and from what I recall tastes like it too.
In Mexico, my favorite place in the world, they have a soda called "Manzana Sol" that tastes pretty much like apple tango.
Seamaiden, I just went outside and tied down the SMS again, and wow, she's SMELLY all of a sudden! I got excited to realize it's a totally different smell from the Connie. To me the Connie still has a very lemony smell, whereas the SMS smells like straight-up skunk!! Wow! It's like...you read about all these different strains and breeds, but all the plants look the same when they're vegging, and it seems like yours will NEVER grow, or they'll NEVER show sex, or you'll NEVER get a female...and then all of a sudden they look exactly like the pics! It's a trip.

Grats LB on your new lady.
How much more grow time do you have outdoors before it starts to get cold? Remember the clones are as old as the mother plant so if the mother will have buds so will the clone most likely. Depends on the growth rate, root structure of the clone and of course the hours of light the plant is exposed to. May need to build a bigger cab for lil Connie.
Seamaiden/LB - I think either you or LB should send Honky a girl clone for his gallant efforts.

Let me make sure they take first! If they do, then we'll see how it goes, as I want to be sure I get this line going as well as I can.
I took a few more Conqui clones last night, as I wanted to get them before they start to really look like they're flowering. My other girls are definitely "in flower".
I think I'm gonna get the young dawg and take her to Mt. Zion State Park, I just learned about it and I might be able to let her go off-leash there. C'ya!

Yeldah is sending him more seeds.
It's cold here by mid to late September. Not super cold, but cold enough that everybody's wearing jackets. By late Oct it's coat weather. So I'm hoping I'll have the two months of veg time the Connies seem to need. Right now we have about 14 hours of light. It goes to 12/12 mid-Sept.
Also: in the cab? Three girls! One of the outdoor A/MKs had balls today, sob. Let's hope the other one doesn't!!

I have a bunch of PMs from this guy today -- as far as I can tell, he thinks I'm someone he knew a long time ago and that I've found him here! I think I'm some kind of lightning rod for weird guys on RIU. I have never had more bizarre interactions with men online in my life than I have on this site!!
In happier news, the cab plants continue to sprout hairs. I fed 'em again today, just the FloraNova. I wonder if I should be looking into any kind of additives to boost the size of the buds. Anyone have any recommendations?
