Even with straight Delta 9 edibles, newbies to edibles should try 25-50mg first time. People all have varying tolerances , just like smoking. But, when smoking, you dont usually go to level 10 quickly.( There have been a rare few times years ago when stuff like Nl#5 and New York bought Sour Diesel greened me out in a joint but thats it) Edibles waste me. I give my wife twice what i take. Ive seen a few folks buy a bag of ,"whatever" gummies at these gas station head shops and eat the whole bag on the way home. They invariably end up waay higher than they wanted to be.

I admit, ive got a couple of the ,"Little Munchies" carts lying around. When i saw they are THC-A only, i bought them. I save those things for concerts, the beach and other public places.
 
Like others said, THC-A is what the plant actually produces, then it converts to THC when heated (decarbed for edibles, with a flame when smoked, etc). The flower you can buy at dispensaries in my area lists the amounts of THC-A and THC separately on the label, and it's usually almost all THC-A, with very minimal THC (until you burn it or decarb it, of course).

Do some non-legal areas seriously have a loophole that allows you to sell products with high levels of THC-A because it's technically not "active" THC?? Is there any difference between those products and "regular" weed?

Before my state legalized recreational use/sale, a lot of places sold "Delta-8 THC" products, which my understanding is that Delta-8 is like a weaker version of Delta-9 that's found in most weed, because it doesn't bind to the cannabinoid receptors in your brain as strongly as Delta-9. It's also usually synthetically derived and doesn't naturally occur in significant amounts in the plant itself. But I've never heard of places selling "THC-A" as an alternative to regular old Delta-9 THC...

yep, yhe loophole exists for the time being. but i reckon they will legalise weed soon over here, everyones doing it for medcation to recreational use

My state is not a weed legal state. But, if you look it up, THC-A is not specifically illegal in any state that i know of. Im aware that all regular Cannabis contains THC-A and only small amounts of D9 until heated. 1 reason the store bought stuff here isnt as good is because most if it is harvested a week or 3 early to minimize D9. Most of it is mids from the early harvest. THC-A , i can handle. THC-P, THC-X, HHC and dozens of others, i wont touch. I only will use the THC-A vape on rare public occasions. I rather smoke,eat, dab , stuff that i grew. But, they are definately selling regular pot(just early harvested) by labeling it THC-A. Ridiculous, but politicians were surely paid well to allow these things to happen. And nowhere on these packages does it say quantity and types of specific cannabinoids. No telling what pesticides or mold might be present too

its a bit like seeds, you ca sell them for colections, but you can't grow them, thc=a, you can collect it as a souvaneet but as soon as tyou smoke it, it becomes ilegal. crazy

Exactly. The only place i trust around here i buy anything from actually does lists THC-A and CBD quantity. He swears the stuff is clean but what's he gonna say? This place appears a legal dispensary from the street. Crazy that the police station is a quarter mile away. But, even these folks sell THCP,D8,10,11 etc. My friend got a DWI last year from a single gummie the guy gave him. I couldnt believe 1 gummie fkd my buddy up to where he wrecked into a building. I figured he was back doping after 10 years. Now, i understand.

Delta 8 is a synthetic made product, not produced by the plant. Man made.

So are Delta 10,11 and THC-P,X, and HHC among many others. No argument from me there. Oh, many of these exist in miniscule quantity in Cannabis. Fractional amounts that exist as a technicality. But, the stuff they are selling was derived from converting CBD chemically in a lab. I just stopped at a vape store earlier for my grown kid and they have some crazy stuff. I wont consume that stuff. But, they also have,"THC-A" flower $45 a quarter. Who knows how it was grown but thats no worse than it was buying from a dealer. I have found cocoons, dog hair and feathers in pounds of pot over the years lol.

THCA flower is no different than regular weed, with the exception it is harvested earlier so the Trichome never fully ripen and it is also dried faster to assist in keeping the THCA low. This is how they keep the THCA levels below .3%. All Cannabis develops THCA, no cannabis develops THC by itself as THC is a by product of THCA when heated.

Eh, I think you give politicians way too much credit. They may have been paid well by lobbyists to pass a bill that any hemp plant with 0.3% or less of THC should be legal, but they don't know the difference between THC and THCA or that other cannabinoids can be synthesized from the plant to make you high. IMO, they thought, "Okay, that can be used for rope and fabric and people won't be able to get high from it if they smoke it because it contains 0.3%."

The law is anything 0.3% THC or less is legal. Seeds are under that. If you live in a legal state, you are allowed to grow them at the state level. The whole collections thingy is just breeders trying to cover their ass because of federal cultivation laws.

Since THCA is not THC and the law didn't specify other cannabinoids, THCA is legal. As for the legality of once it's heated and it converts to THC, it depends on the state. Because it's a very grey area, they are trying to pass another bill which will change it from 0.3% THC to total THC, which would include THCA conversion to THC percentage after decarboxylation (87.7%).

this isn't entirely true, just because its legal in a state doesn't mean you can grow anywhere in said state legally

Right, but by legal, I mean cultivation; that is, states where it's legal to cultivate and you're following that state's cultivation laws.

Forgive me, but didnt i say exactly that somewhere a couple pages back? Anyhow, thats right! They are getting away selling the stuff by harvesting a couple or 3 weeks early. This is how the more decent companies package it. This company gives you a UPC code to scan that's supposed to give data about specific cannabinoids and show theres no pesticides/mold etc. Ive thought it amusing for 5 yrs now that they're selling regular weed under the technicality of Delta 9 absence before heating and aging.

We can purchase ,"Hemp Producer" licenses in my state that allow you to legally grow any cultivar as long as under .03% D9 THC is in a tested supply. As weve been saying, no cannabis exceeds those levels unless its heated and/or aged enough. My grow store has clones going in several tents. Autos in another. He says he always removes them from the store before flowering to have fewer chance of issues. The licenses are very expensive and my tiny personal grow isnt worth the cost or trouble.

The USDA requires that hemp is tested using a post-decarboxylation method. See section 1.8 under "Summary of Practice" here: https://www.ams.usda.gov/rules-regulations/hemp/information-laboratories/lab-testing-guidelines

What do you want me to say dude? Theyre selling this stuff as ,"hemp derived" , even though the guy at the growstore grows ,"Blue Dream" and "GG4" and other regular cannabis seeds in the store. Maybe theres regulations , but the state aint following them because the weed they sell is simply decent mids, harvested early to guarantee less than .3% D9. They dont have to spray THC-A on it because there isnt a single state thats outlawed THC-A. They dont have to call it hemp. It just has to test under .3% D9. This is enough for local authorities. Ive not heard of 1 store in the state getting busted for selling pot. Its a technicality that has made some rich folks even richer. You can buy the stuff legal here, but get caught with half a joint in your ashtray and youre busted. A cop told me that as long as its in the legal container and there is no pipe or resin , then they let you go. Its all about money and paid off politicians. The literal law is apparantly not as important as the people you pay off.
Edit. I did read the document, but not a shop ive asked has had any of their stuff pulled and tested. There is a ,"CBD hemp grow" about 30 minutes from here and the guy running it says he gets tested maybe once a year and if anything doesnt pass, he pays a fine and loses a few plants. Laws existing and agencies enforcing said laws are 2 different things. There are not many agents that do these checks apparantly because there are tons of real weed being sold as THC-A Flower at ,"Dispensaries " Vape shops and gas stations. As long as the package says ," >.3% D9 THC" then these law agencies do not care. Anymore, neither do I lol.

Actually there are multiple states which have banned THCA, and more which plan to do so in the future. Go ahead and look it up. I don't know what state you're in, so kind of hard to speculate on your local laws. What I can tell you is that there are many local law enforcement agencies, which have simply decided to not enforce cannabis laws. I live in one such county. However there is nothing to stop the state or feds from enforcing the laws. Just because it hasn't happened yet in your area, does not make it legal to do so. Heck, in my area there were some groups of people who were setting up local "trade meetups", which were all good for a couple of years, until a sting operation was set up by the state police, and now multiple people are facing jail time. Even legal states have a plant count limit, and the only way to get around that is to get a hemp license, but along with that comes the regulations which I previously posted. I mean you can get away with a lot of stuff, but that doesn't make it legal or without risk.
