I knew this guy from high school. I pretty much met him in high school too.. I actually hadn't ever really smoked much pot up until I met him.
Anyhow, after knowing the guy for about 2 years.. he finally showed me his grow. Now, this was back in high school remind you, so its been 13 years since then. But I'll never forget what he said to me once. He said "Man, I don't know what I'm doing wrong." I asked him what are you talking about? He said, "I grow my own bud.. but I can't figure out why my buds never get me stoned.. they give me a mediocre high and thats about it."
I then asked him, "well how long do you let them flower before you cut?" His reply was, "Usually I harvest after the 6th or 7th week...."
Well, as many of you know.. 6 or 7 weeks isn't quite long enough. Sure, there are some indica strains available out there.. that if you have a good enough setup (lighting, etc..) will finish after the 7th week possibly.. but that's under "perfect like" conditions.. you know. I'm talking about "optimum" conditions.. with digital climate controls and all the other bells and whistles.
Anyhow, I finally told him that 6 or 7 weeks.. might be enough to harvest a "very mild potent" product.. that more than likely has a ratio of something like 40% clear; 60% cloudy/hazey trichs.. which will give you the high, but its going to be less.. much less potent, then if you would just leave them alone until they've ripened up. Most the time, too get any type of worthy high/stone.. your going to have to let the plant go a full 8 to 9 weeks.. and sometimes longer depending on the variables of the growing environment; the grower; and the strain being grown.
Point of the story is.. is he needs to stop harvesting at 6 or 7 weeks all the damn time.. and at least let them finish a good solid 8 to 9 weeks.. if not more as I described in the paragraph above. If he doesn't, then hes going to continue to harvest and smoke a product that has very very mild potency/high to it.. that's all I was trying to say.
peace..
