damn i was so excited to do my hempy setup today but walmart, home depot, and target all only have miracle grow perlite...walmart usually has shultz...i wont use miracle grow even though its a really low npk ratio....so Ill pick up a big bag tomorrow at the hydro sto...and then Ill post pics...and track the rest in my grow journal except for new pics indicative to hempy in here

thats what I did I had 4 seedlings anyway that were just in my AG so I threw those in hempy buckets inside my grow box so far so good.....

ya we use the big green bag perilite...its only 17bucks...works great...peace az

lol yeah I know the big green bag ha ha...seems like it was less than that but I think I was looking at a 1.5 csft bag...or is that the one your talking about..I was gonna call for a price in the mornin so I could hit the atm before i get there..

mine comes in 3.5cubicsq feet...so one bag goes a long way..lol..my first times a couple years ago i was buying my perlite from a nursury for super expensive....lol..wasted to much money..was happy when i found those bags...lol....peace az

get the big big bag of perlite... you'll want it for future grows too...

you can get along with the MG stuff too... if you're worried about the nutes just presoak the perlite in water for a day or two then rinse off and you're good to go...

I refuse to use MG when I can go to the dro sto and get the green bag....but thanks for the info.. if the 3.5 is only 17 then Ill just get that cuz yeah I know I will use it all up...prolly not as fast as you 2 lol......and it know its def cheaper than a nursery cuz I swear that 1.5 bag was some silliness under like 10 bucks...again mucho thanks to both of you for answering all my questions so quickly and effectively Im a fast learner and I will make you so proud!!!

nursery store near me had a pretty big bag 12qt or something for only $4.00us, seemed like a good buy....

Hey Az. I have the Hempy in full rotation. I started with a 3 gallon but after seeing what was possible in a one gallon I moved down to about a 3/4 gallon. Actually I grab whatever trashcan's or containers I find at the 99¢ store. Works wonders! I have an almost Identical afghani in a 3 gallon hempy that last cycle I did a 5 gallon soil affy, and this one kicks the soil affy's ass all over the closet, no contest. I use the perlite with a maybe 7-10% vermiculite but if I run out its no thang.I just use pure perlite. I also started last cycle with my R/o water checking diligently my ph, but as I also used pure tap on some with no difference I now just use straight tap full strength GH floranova and some additives and my ph is 6.0-6.5 ALWAYS , so it hasn't been an issue. I bought a super expensive drill bit for plastic with the angled bit so you can make the hole as big as you need... I do mine about 'pinkie' size. Seems to work well. I know the original hempy buckets were designed for a 1000 w so us smaller guys can scale down a bit, although my smaller buckets do get dry every day or two tops. Hempy for Life! ok, how about for now? cheers! oh, PS I don't know if anyone has posted on this but I have transplanted 10 or more soil started plants into hempy's by filling to the res hole
with the perlite then placing the rootball right up to it. They take off pretty quik if not immediately if anyone was worried about stress, don't! I did everything from shake off ALL dirt to plop the entire dirtball in there. no difference.
ps. I also have used the Miracle grow perlite. The fert. ratio is less than 1.0-1.0-1.0
but all those places just ask the dude working for the bulk stuff they have the big bags in the back! lol.

sweet ya it seems with hempy smaller is better...i can harvest 2+foot highfully structrued plants in 1gals with more room for the roots to grow....it also seems to me that alot of us use hempy but not alot talk about it our share the info on it...peace az

hey AZ you have been really helpful I have some buckeets going now, I am just going to let them veg in my box for a while, but you seem to know your stuff, solet me run this by you , I am planing to do a hempy bucket grow room, all containers about 1 gallon, my space is 15inches deep 27 inches wide and max height in the room is 6feet, how many do you think I can grow in there, and how much light will I need, I am going to get an hps just dont know how big I need for the area

AZ I was looking at your LST action, nice so those are 1 gallon action? Awesome, I'm limited in my space so I like to twist and crawl my lady s too. I have a buddy who inherited one of my 1.5 gallon erkle's natural style who does a 400 but has it up too high IMO. Well this lady is about 3 feet tall and standing tall in the little hempy. He is ascared of LST but after he saw how I did it he started bending away, lol. live and learn. Oh, I read the bag on the perlite , and this miracle grow perlite is 0.06-0.01-0.04 thats trace amounts of nutrients fella's shouldnturt a thing? what do you guys think?

for that space i'd say a 250-400hps....depending on the size containers you can get
you should be able to fit 2-4..if 2 plants go with flipping them at about 12-18inches...if 4 i would flip at 6-10 inches..heavy pruning....peace az

i personally dont use anything with added nutes an such...i give my plants what they need..not the soil..jmo...bend that bitch over..lol...peace az

quick question on this. it seems like you would be using a lot more nutes than if is was DWC , is this true? or im i just trippin.

strain dependent..but typically same nutes or less...peace az
