The "I'm Leaving for a Week" Thread

Controlling the water yourself is cool and all but with this i was able to forget for over a week and not need to press a command to water it. I use a pump on a timer and a air stone, the water feeds the rockwool threw the pump and when roots get long enough they hang in the rez with the air stone feeding oxygen to the same water.

I water the plants with about 12-15 oz. every 3 days. This means they probably drink about 4-5 oz. a day. I will be gone for 5 days so I watered them with 23 oz. Some of it overflowed into the collection saucers. I put cardboard over the soil so that some of the light will be blocked from reaching it. This will keep the soil cooler and slow down evaporation. We'll see how it works!

I decided to put cardboard above the soil. I figure it will block the light from reaching the soil, which will keep it cooler and decrease evaporation. I watered them each with 23 oz. of water and the runoff is in the collection trays. Hopefully it will work!

Wouldn't leaving water in the trays waterlog the soil and cause root rot? And how do people "overwater". Unless you're not using perlite, or don't have drainage holes in your pots, you can't really overwater your plants.. doesn't most of it get drained out? I've been watering with 700mL's each time. Oh.. I'm leaving for the week too btw :joint:
