The Irish Growers Thread!

Same here, hard to recommend a go to strain when starting from scratch, a few of us on here are in the same boat, part of the fun is looking for the killer pheno's, get popping about ten seeds to start or twenty if doing regs. Or try and get your hands on an elite clone to save six months work, just watch for pests.

yep, jump in and start growing, learn along the way.... second as above....

I think starting with cuttings will only save you approximately 3 weeks time from start to harvested herb, without bringing a bunch of variables into it.

You must be addressing the longest potential time wasted on (unknown) seedlings. Some that turn out to be non keepers and then the time given to ramp up with cuttings, for a second generation from a keeper or two.

I've often pondered how much time is saved by starting with a known good clone, versus going with seeds. I'll add a photo of a new keeper clone (from first round of seedlings) taken/rooted at the same time as the above seedlings were germinated. This will illustrate my point better.

Basically starting with a clone will save you only about a month, or less. Just voicing my opinion mates. There are plenty of advantages to starting from seed, just as there are also positives from starting with a proven clone.

Cloning speed depends on variety's etc but not a lot of time is saved.
The big advantage is they will all be the same as the mother and grow at the same rate as each other.

So are you going to grow outside? looks like it?
Are you starting seeds inside or out.
Regular feminized or auto?
The idea is to utilize a modest greenhouse when possible. Gorilla grows are a lot of work and I've lost entire crops before due to rippers, very disappointing. Outdoor grows can be low maintenance, once started, but much initial perseverance is required.

I don't grow autos or feminized seeds.

Well I havnt a clue what I'm doing so haha

Some of the elite clones are the most finicky plants I've ever grown. Seedlings have unparalleled vigor and health, unless it's a mutant or runt. Also like that I end up with something original.

You have to decide how you are going to grow first, then we can advice on the type of seed.
100 in a field would not end good.

Did i just reply to myself

no it showed on the thread, what have you got lined up...

outdoor grow we know, have you scouted a spot, or is it back garden job...

you can get seeds now and have them started at home to be planted out later, this will give you a great head start and alot more weed once harvested...
