Hey what is that bendy colored "CORD" that most ppl are using to hold the branches down? soft-ties? i dont really wanna use like, thin string , and that stuff looks nice and flexable and strong

And would you guys that have done this a few times even try doing this in an ebb and flow 5 gallon bucket system? I keep just seeing ppl growing in dirt. DONT KILL ME!! lol i know we're in organics forum, just a question

or Mississippi, hmm don't matter. I too just recently had a discectomy L4/L5. I am healing up well myself. I noticed your plants took a hit (stressed) for a lack of water. I never worry about that anymore, if fact I don't really water my plants I let them water themselves.
I use cloth pots with an organic soil mix that keeps my ladies feed well but I hated the watering part, too time consuming and as we both know can't always be there to stay on top of it.
I did a little research hoping there was a way where one could grow in a self feeding and self watering setup. The self feeding obviously easy right soil mix duh da!
The hard part was a watering system where getting water to plants did not require electrical powered assistance moving it, providing air to it, ensuring it's PH and PPM balanced for chemical feeding.
In attempting to find a solution I came across a book by Ed Rosenthal considered to be the God Father of growing cannabis. He had a section on hydroponics and what I knew of hydroponics at the time
was all electrical pump moving water through a variety of different mechanisms. So I was quite taken back and very interested when the first section under hydroponics was titled Passive Hydroponics, passive what the hell is passive.
Then as I read and discovered that our ladies roots are designed in such a way that the lower portion of the root system is great at up taking water and it grows deeper into the soil and that the upper layer of the root system excels at developing and nourishing itself within the soil web us organic gardeners go all out to ensure it optimal. So why not ensure water uptake when needed in the photosythis process is prime and readily available. At that's what he did. Ed showed you could build a container utilizing wicking system techniques that would allow one to house the upper root system in organic soil and yet underneath it provide a layer of porous rock and water that is separate yet accessible via wicking and permanently once lower roots grow through dividing material that keeps the upper system from resting directly in the water reservoir below.
One can spend a ton of money on special made pots for passive hydroponic system. Or one can take the concept and DIY in there own grow as I did.

I've found using the soft cloth pots, the green velcro rolls where you can cut to length needed are great and as far as attaching they stick in place really nice on the cloth pots.

God DAMN i love this thread!! So im on like page 10 or 11 and will keep reading. Shit ton to read.
I have a question!!?? my situation is this: I dont yet have a mother, i will be making space for one unless someone can suggest something else. Two rooms, veg and flower. Two separate ebb and flow 5 gallon bucket systems. So i cant really jsut add plants to the flower room whenever i want. Right now the flower room is FULL and wont be done for another 8-9 weeks. What i was doing was topping them about 10 days befor putting them into flower and using those tops and other clippings as clones.
So, i cut clones, put in aero cloner, and they got the 10 days while the big plants were healing to go to flower. The biggins went to flower. Still the clones needed about a week before they were ready for transplant. So now i have the clones transplanted but i really have no choice now but to veg them for the whole time the flowering plants finish. Which is gonna be about 8-9 weeks
everyone im seeing doing this mainlining only vegs for like 5 weeks give or take. will this hurt my results? if i veg this long. Or should i do MORE topping whn they get so tall? supercrop? or jsut let it ride? taller tomato cages? lol i DO have like 5-6' to work with, not including bucket height.

I do not suppose that your Veg tent is rigged to temporarily switch to flower...
...but if it were then you could just do that and start them in place and move them
when the other Crop is done.
Dealing plants numbers, size, and general readiness, and predicting it especially,
are things that I am still figuring out.

Hey Bud, my plants due to lots of problems and lack of cabinet have been in veg since seed on July 26 (13 weeks) but they are so ready to go into flower. I think you can extend vegging as long as you want and they will just go into flower being larger plants.
