The Main-Lining Thread

I like to top at nodes 4 or 5 regardless of leaf/node set (count).
@sparky - I let my soil ML`s go 50-60 days of veg to support the 8 heads, KC :weed:
Hey KC,

So, if I understand the mainlining idea, and it is pretty clear from some
of the photos I have seen, then you are taking that top and letting the
two resulting branches be the basis for the eight tops.

...so, you clear all growth lower down as you go?

Good stuff. Thanks!

Negative. I top the 5th to encourage the under branches to adjust, and then chop down to the first set of true nodes (see first page of this thread), train and top, and those become the basis. Those are then topped and trained, etc. :)

My Flav's after 18 days of flowering, 2 are mainlined for 16 tops and 1 is done for 8. One of the 16 tops stretched so much I had to supercrop her twice now. The Flav 12 010.jpgThe Flav 12 002.jpg The Flav 12 004.jpgThe Flav 12 006.jpg The Flav 12 014.jpgThe Flav 12 011.jpg

Thank you so much for the detailed thread on mainlining. My first attempt will be transplanted into a 7 gallon smartpot and put into flower very, very soon. Super Silver main-lined to 16 heads. Just about to get started training Space Dawg.kiss-ass

I will do it again but just not with such a indica heavy strain. I also included a bonus shot of a little something else i grew out :)

Great results for your first try. I think Nugs would have removed more of the undergrowth. My first try was with 100% landrace sativa. I got interrupted after topping for 4 so I ended up with tall lanky banches. Loking forward to 16 or 32 tops this season!

Cheers,
Mo

This is my first post here in the community. I am always trying to learn something new and when I was enlightened to this technique, I just had to learn more. When a guest, you can't see pics. I read through hours and hours last night but it gets difficult to perceive in your head when you get into the doubling of heads and how long the nodes should be .. preparing and dealing with stretch and just the later bondage without really seeing it. My brain gets scrambled sometimes. :wall:I get the idea of the first cut, leaving a lower node for clones and then tying down the two upper tops when their ready, to start the hub. I have tied, bent, crushed and cut my plants in the past but this is new ground. An art if you will. Its a long thread, I will do my best not to ask something that has been covered. Happy to be here. NB, thanks for inspiring me and from what I took from the thread, being a good hearted dude.

Cheers dude, you can make it through this thread, it only took me a week or so! Totally worth it. If you think it's hard wrapping your head around mainlining from seed, try doing it from clone..

Mo, shit gets hectic at 32 tops lol. From my little ML exp I think 8 is a solid way to go.

Have to agree you some on the number of heads to run, 8 does seem to be very manageable. Now 16 does get a bit unruly with a stretchy pheno I have, but overall she looks to be the best yielding plant this grow. If I were able to do a solid outdoor grow where I could tend to the plants, I think 32 would be about max I would run. They would definitely be spread out wide though, to get that needed air movement.
