The Monumentally Epic, Knockdown, Dragout, Take-No-Prisoners Slapdown: Aussie High Light vs HLG 288

Cannabis is a C3 plant, so strictly doesn't need a dark period. However, that doesn't mean they grow most efficiently that way, as photooxidation - a build up of light energy that can't be photosynthesised (because the leaf is already saturated) - can damage the plant if it doesn't dissipate that energy.

So the short answer is, you will likely see best results by introducing a dark period in your veg cycle. The fastest growth I've tested in the past was 11/1 (11 hours on, one hour off). These days I tend to use 18/6 or sometimes 20/4, as I'm generally in hurry to veg.

Yep, this tent isn’t on timers yet, so let them go nodark...maybe tomorrow they will be set for 12:12, to determine sex... then if i have fems, 18/6 to grow clonage....then clones go back to 24:0, to maintain steady temps while they root...,then 18:6 to veg....

How many clones do you try to take from a mom? aka how long is your 18/6 clonage phase?

I am currently thinking i will need 4 plants/tent x 3 tents (Prawn’s HLs, supplemented 288s, and 96 elites), i’d like at least 4 more as veg buffer, so right now i’m thinking 16 rooted clones....the cloner i plan to use has 24 positions, so if i can, i’ll fill er up, and pick the best 16.. but it all depends on how many females i get,

It takes about 10 days to root the cuttings... about 30 days to create the 8-main manifold...about 2 weeks to go vertical to 12:12 height...and a 2 week safety margin for screwups along the way. So still a while till 12:12.

If i get 16 clones, i’m considering running the slapdown from rooted clones thru harvest... i originally intended to veg them all under 96 elites, cuz it’s the best of the 3 lights for veg, imo. But i’d like to prove that, so may start the smackdown in veg under each....

I offered to also run a fourth tent with one of hlg's new lights, doesn't look like they want to participate.

Two tents is a lot of work, 4 would be killer; but this is my last smackdown for awhile, so i’d take a shot at it....

We’ll see...

[/ QUOTE]

My bet: front right = m, front left = f, back = f

One female at least, please ganja gods...

Yepp! I would bet the same. Could be genetic but I feel it somehow..

I really like to take my clones when I switch seed based plants to flowering mode. There are always a few small shoots to lollipop in the lower area and these are perfect siuted to root them. The lowest twigs always root the fastest cause they have almost no auxin stored.
This way you don't need mother plants but you are forced to grow the same strains until you start with new strains. You could veg and meanline them parallel to the plants in the flowering tent and as soon as these are ready you can put the clones in the flowering tent, switch to 12/12 and take a bunch of new clones.
The flowering tent would run all the time in the best case but you need a 2nd tent to veg the new clones at the same time.
Especially when you've found a strain worth it it makes sense. The older the genetic gets the better the quality.
Is there no dispensery where you can buy rooted clones?
You could also order them and they'll send them as express package.
But don't ask for a specific strain, ask them for their oldest and most potent genetic. You have seen @Moflow 's sensi star... It's really worth it!
If I could buy them legally here I would always take clones. It saves you a lot of time especially with 3 flowering tents!
Strains like GSC, GG#4 or bruce banner should get really awesome with the time and most cutting sellers keep their motherplants for a long time. Simply try it out with one of your next grows.
Also the method above saves you a lot of time cause you would always have a filled flowering tent and the cuttings can grow big in parallel.
