the thing is i dot really take it over the summer (maybe once a week for a family thing, summer reading, tournament or practices). so its odd that my tolerance shot up so fast.
Every time you take a break from it, and then start taking it again, your tolerance will shoot back up quicker than the last time. This is in my experience at least with different substances. It's a tricky balancing act to try to keep the tolerance nice and low, but it is manageable.the thing is i dot really take it over the summer (maybe once a week for a family thing, summer reading, tournament or practices). so its odd that my tolerance shot up so fast.
I thought you had to take this all the time? What difference does the time of year make? That's fucked up.the thing is i dot really take it over the summer (maybe once a week for a family thing, summer reading, tournament or practices). so its odd that my tolerance shot up so fast.
Thanks for sharing your struggle. I don't think most people here have studied ADHD in depth, so they don't understand how difficult it is to deal with it. My son also has ADHD, and it took me many books and many years to understand the condition. He currently is not on any meds, and it is difficult for me to watch him struggle to focus, something most of us take for granted. He has been on Adderall in the past as well as Risperdal, and each have their own nasty side effects. But one has to weigh that against being totally ineffective at learning in a traditional school setting. My son is very intelligent, off the charts in MAP and other standardized testing, but without being medicated he may as well not even be in class. When it is time to do his homework, that is the first time he is seeing that material, even though the teacher went over the material in class for 45 minutes that day. So, he is learning the material only at home via the homework. His favorite thing to do is gaming, these days playing Destiny on his xbox one. He is allowed to play as soon as he finishes his music practice and homework, so it is in his best interest to finish as quickly as possible. But he often doesn't get to play because his homework takes him three hours because he's constantly drifting away mentally, where kids without ADHD finish the same work in less than hour. It's fascinating, albeit disheartening, to watch him consistently drift away. It seems similar to what I go through when I'm very, very high. He knows that many successful people have this condition, like billionaire Richard Branson of Virgin, but they need to have special systems in place in order to focus and function effectively. The advantage to this condition seems to be a heightened level of creativity, so those that learn to deal with it have a unique skill set...you can develop a tolerance to Ritalin? and yes sunni i am already enrolled in my schools OSS (office of special services) and all that jazz. just sucks feeling like i cant focus. people don't understand the struggle of being adhd. thankfully i dont have any of the other learning disablities commonly associated with it and a good IQ. so in class i know i can comprehend the content just no pay attention thats frustrating part.
My son, when on medication, does not usually take it on the weekends or summer vacation. The reason is he does not have to employ intense focus during these times as he does when doing school work. Some doctors say it's good for their body to get a break, and I think it keeps them from getting too tolerant of the drug so it increases its effectiveness as opposed to taking it consistently when it is not needed...I thought you had to take this all the time? What difference does the time of year make? That's fucked up.
people opt to take it when they need to focus on studies, which is a hard thing to do with your add/adhd,I guess I don't understand being add/adhd part time.
unfortunately im not taking a long release pill it is instant which significantly lowers the half life of the drug. earlier when i was on brand concerta extended release it would have a build up in my system.people opt to take it when they need to focus on studies, which is a hard thing to do with your add/adhd,
some people choose to allow themselves off it when they dont need to focus so specifically on something.
if its an off day and they can just do whatever they want that they there is enough build up of the drug in the system to allow minimal tasks, its not about being part time, its about allowing your body the break, and using it during times when excessive need for focus is needed,
such as school work, even the most concentrated people have a hard time working on school projects.
yeah thanks for understanding. I found that many of these drugs dont work as well of some as they do for others. Ritalin works fantastically with me. I have no problem with ritalin causing anxiety or even feeling a little mentally exhausted after my last dosage wares off ( first does 20mg ir 6am-8am, second 2pm-4pm) and i have no significant lose of appetite as long as i smoke a REASONABLE amount. This morning for instance i woke up at 6am to take my Ritalin woke up around 630 went to a friends apartment on campus and smoked a blunt and two bong rips (its not a good bong and has a small bowl). I have a kinda high tolerance and don't get absolutely stoned when i split a blunt and the bong rips just got me to a nice place. In total i would say i smoked .6 since i split 1.2 with my friend. Thanks for sharing your struggle. Ok, so do you think the concerta brand would significantly improve your focus since it is a built up version, rather than your quick release ones?unfortunately im not taking a long release pill it is instant which significantly lowers the half life of the drug. earlier when i was on brand concerta extended release it would have a build up in my system.
