The Land of Gorch was a recurring Muppet story-line and series of skits on Saturday Night Live in 1975 and 1976. The SNL staff did not like working with muppets - see the Belushi comment above. When they hit it big with the Muppet Show, they locked all the SNL stuff up with copyright, and it is relatively recently that this stuff once again appeared on DVDs (and Netflix). NBC still goes after it on YT - this was all I could find:

Those clips are from the show that aired in it's second season on 9/18/1976. Lilly Tomlin was the host and the special music was by James Taylor. I have that season on DVD.

Netflix has them as well. I grew up watching the first few seasons live from New York. I lived in the burbs - by the time I was hanging out in NYC, I wasn't into SNL anymore.

My favorite muppet film is a Christmas carol, the bit where they ask for more coal off mr Scrooge and he shouts no! And they all sing " this is my island in the sun" brilliant
