This is just too funny/ironic...their office/forecasting is generally not all that accurate when they are open. Maybe they should simply stay closed.

Just tried to access weather reports and...

Due to the Federal government shutdown,
NOAA.gov and most associated web sites
are unavailable.

Only web sites necessary to protect lives
and property will be maintained.

See Weather.gov for critical weather
information or contact USA.gov for more
information about the shutdown.

NOAA Federal Employees: For access to the
Notice to Federal Employees About Unemployment
Insurance (SF-8),

Wanna see something funny, this is the actual text from my local meteorologist he posted upon returning to the office for the first time after the government shutdown:

.DISCUSSION...
336 AM CDT

I FEEL LIKE A KID COMING HOME FROM THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WITH A
MILLION THINGS TO TELL THEIR PARENTS ABOUT...EXCEPT I`VE GOT ABOUT A
MILLION FORECAST THINGS TO TALK ABOUT THIS MORNING.

lol, I have little confidence he got the forecast correct.:-P

pretty sad that the government is shutting down things that dont even need to be shutdown because they want it to appear worse than it actually is....fucking sad.

there are people on bike trails in DC to make sure they arent using them...so they are literally using MORE rescourses than it would tkae to maintain if the govt was open (it takes 0 people to patrol bike trails.. MAYBE 1....but they have dozens shutting them down.)

People rarely if ever go somewhere without leaving a trace. Litter (I hate litter), trampled parts, broken benches, etc. Someone is sitting home that would maintain those things. Probably entire departments. So they pay, or suspend pay while they work, a certain number of officers or rangers to stand around and take abuse from the public. Those are probably the decent ones too, the crooked ones are probably off robbing something or intimidating/extorting. Providing private security. I don't know I'm kind of high and just rambling.

i completely agree kinetic, but its just really sad to see grown men who operate the most powerful country ever seen on planet earth act like silly little fucking children. they actually closed a fucking WW2 memorial off to the public because they wanted to make it seem like things were worse than they were, no one is needed to maintain a ww2 stone memorial, like come on.

they also shut down (or tried to shut down) mount vernon, a PRIVATELY owned non profit place. the land is not owned by the US govt. but they STILL tried to shut it down, they blocked off parkign spaces and shit, just so sad...pathetic really

We need more referendums. Seriously. That's motherfucking democracy right there. There can still be politicians. They can still make 6 figures even as well as a decent fair benefits package. I completely love whoever thought of their suits being covered in sponsorship patches like nascar. If they get voted out, which would be different than losing an election during their capped term limit. There is a serious penalty, I don't know, lets kick them in the pants financially at retirement time. Lets tie in the health, safety and happiness of their constituents to their pay.
