The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

I would cut the rhizo back to zero.
If I were using 12ml per gal. of A&B, then i would cut it back to 8ml. just to be safe, but if im not using any other additives and have clean water and plenty of run-off, then i can run canna's pk13/14 without cutting back much at all, but genetics and even tap water can make it different for everyone.

The boost doesnt change the EC and the new cannazym has nutrients in it, but the old formula doesnt... I imagine the new formula shouldnt raise the EC too high but i havent used it yet myself. If the label reads a high npk then try using it less often, but at least once a week.

You can start using it as soon as you see small fingernail size buds that havent linked together yet... it can be used earlier and later, all the way up to the last week or two of flowering... you really have to experiment to find your plants sweet spot but when the plant begins changing rapidly from the vegging to a flowering stage then go for it... it shouldnt cause a problem even if you were to give the pk at the "wrong" time.
Hey an thanks JB

happy new year buddy!

The cannaboost is better used as a foliar spray imo... It should not only work better as a foliar but it will make it possible to get many, many more feedings out of the same size bottle...and when used as a foliar, only cost a fraction of the price for each application.

You may still benefit from the occasional root feed but i cant justify the cost of it when used as a root feed everytime. Even by Canna's own admition, they say that you may not get much of any results from it if your envronment is already ideal.. they say it will be more beneficial for for less then ideal situations such as low/weak lighting, ect... and even then they say it would likely only increase the yield by aprox. 5%, which is a good increase by industry standards but for the cost of the boost you could likely use that money to improve your envronment which would almost eliminate the need to use the cannaboost imo.

The only way I could really suggest using the boost as root feeds with every application is if money is of no concern and sugar/resin/aroma are the main reason for using the product (rather than increased weight)... and even then I wouldnt be able to be totally confident of it actually making a huge difference... Things like resin/aroma content can be hard to judge in side by side tests without getting a lab involved... But you can use something called a Brix meter which farmers use on food crops (corn, ect.) to measure the sugar content of plant tissue, although i dont know if it would be of any great help when it comes to using it on cannabis?

Canna says it can be applied up to 1 week before harvest but i would probably not risk using that late into flowering to avoid the risk of mold/rot.
hey jb

would you recommened usin the boost startin at light switch to 12/12 like canna say or later? and when would you stop usin it then?
ive just switched to 12/12 thursday so i want to know whens best?

yea use it now and u can keep using it through the entire flower cycle and anytime its in a 12/12 light/dark cycle... best used during fast growth spurts like the stretching stage and flower development stages or just anytime the plant is growing fast, which is pretty much the whole time with cannabis.

Foliars should be done with enough time for the plant to dry before the lights turn out.

Happy new year everyone!

NEED SOME HELP GUYS!!

2011-01-02 20.49.40.jpg2011-01-02 20.48.57.jpg

So what do you think it could be the only thing i did was raise my A&B to 12ml/g an i lowered my Rhiz 6ml/g do you think that could be it is it burn?

or do you think it could be a deficiency? i have some cal-max its pretty much the same as cal-mag, magi-cal i think. i havent been usin it i thought id see how i went with my tap water should a add some?

I would start by checking your pH cuz i think it may be your issue... or it maybe a possible magnesium def.

Hi jb

last night i watered with A&B 10ml/g Rhiz 4ml/g ph 5.8

The last couple of waters before that when i first noticed the patches i watered A&B 12ml/g RHiz 6ml/g ph 5.8

So ive lowered a little (didnt no if it was burn or not) and i watered an extra 0.5L instead of 1.5L i put 2L through the coco to make sure i got a real good run off more then what i have been whitch is about 10-20% run off

Ive jus been an checked before lights out the patches dont seem to be gettin worse and no new ones have formed

i checked the ph of the run off an it was 5.9. Every time ive checked its been between 5.9-6.3 so i thought that was pretty good

So if it may be magnesium def should i add the cal-max ive got?... and what dose should i start with?..... it says on the bottle;

5ml/4L Soil garden
8ml/4L Aggresive formula
5-8ml/4L Hydroponic gardens

thanks for gettin back to me jb hope to here from you soon

I've been giving my girls 1 ml/gal magical(or cal-mag +) and 2 ml/gal of cutting edge solution Mag-Amp with every feedind at all stages of growth. When I followed Cannas chart the girls were starving.
I pretty much run in the red all the time. I rarely, if ever get any tip burn.

As soon as I get roots I start feeding at 8 ml/gal a&b and then walk it up to the max(for the stage of growth) 1 ml at a time as I mix new solutions I use cannazym about half the time and taper the rhizo off in the flower stage. I've got a perpetual going and have found my girls to be very tollerant of the amount of a&b I give them up to 15 ml/gal.

My water is well water that comes out at about 45 ppm. I let it sit for a day or so before mixing.

I run drain to waste. I mix 18 gallons at a time and when they run empty to the point that my pump wont pull anymore solution (about 2 gallons remaining) I just poor the rest of the mix in the next closest batch be it veg, flower, or the P/K mix. Havn't had a problem yet.

PH is always between 5.4-6.1. I try to ad as little PH up or down as possible to get to these numbers.

Coco is impressive to say the least....

I was using just magical but found that I was adding to much N to the mix. That coupled with the fact that Coco holds calcium i decided to cut back on the Cal-mag and add more of the just Mag. Seems to be working very well.

Hope this helps...

Hey ympb

So do you think it could be a def then bud? i dont no whats in my tap water i let it stand for a day or 2 before i mix also ph is 7.5 so hard but thought id see how i went cos dont no how much of it is cal & mag, a thew people told me i wouldnt notice defs till flower an now im 6 days since light switch an this has happened
do you think i should add the cal-max?
can you see the amounts in the cal-max in the pic? if so is it pretty much the same as the cal-mag?
how much should i use?

cheers bud

Probably start at 4-5 ml/ gal. or less with some epson for more mag.

I've gone as high as 6ml/gal with the magical and have heard of people using as much as 10ml/gal. It is basically the same as your cal-max, same numbers minus the chelating additive.

I though I may have been burning mine at the begining so I backed off the a&b solution to 6 ml/gal and things got worse in a day or so. That made me realize I was starving them. Started feeding heavier and things really came together.

I've got 29 girls(legal medical grow) in various stages of veg and flower right now. Plant are weird sometimes I can feed mine exactly the same thing and get slightly different results from one to the next....

Good luck. I'm always learning myself and check this thread daily for new info(it's actually the reason I chose canna coco). I notice a lot of people seem to be holding back a little on the nutes.....

In my 9wk plants I'm adding pk 13/14 in the third week and running it at full blast for 2 wks. No problems to speak of...

I find that my enviroment has WAY more to do with good growth than any stimulator (that I've tried) on the market. I started getting the best results when I simplified my feeding and focused on temps, fresh air and HUMIDITY. We just had a really cold spell and I struggled with temps and humidity due to the fact that my fans would not run long enough to clear out the humid air. I actually saw the growth slow during this unstable time...

A friend of mine was whining about his last yeild the other day and told me he was switching nutes. I told him he was wasting his time due to the fact that his enviroment sucked and until he was moving the right amount of air and bought another light he was simply wasting his time and money....

I'm not making any assumptions about your enviroment, just pointing out something that I see a lot of people(including myself, that envirment crap is expensive) struggle with.

However, I am currently adding a few different things because I want to use them up(hygrozyme *50/50 w/ cannazyme*, liquid gold, liquid black). I'm only doing this because the stuff is expensive and I hate being wasteful. I will probably not be buying any of these products again.

I say sometime in week three and run it for two weeks.

I'm currently have minor Mag issues(twisting new growth, not PH related). They always sort themselves out in flower but I hate waiting, I want to figure it out in veg...

Sorry for the long winded answer. It looks like you are doing quite well actually and what you are learning now, both good and bad will make your next run even better....
