I think spec racing is a little far, but agree that 'money = results' way too much. If people liked watching spec racing with the worlds best drivers IROC would still exist. I liked IROC, but apparently not many others did. Speaking of which did anyone see/ remember Steve Kinser on his roof like 3 times the final season. I miss IROC.
you have to build a car that can run at 200 mph for 6 hours straight on a stock engine.
I totally get that point. That is why I like endurance racing so much. 24 hours at Le Mans is the best. It is just so hard to watch the long races 36 times a year (like nascar runs).
I appreciate the endurance of the old push rods running at max rpm (at least during green), in fact I find it amazing that they can build engines that last, but Nascar makes it an endurance sport to be a fan. Maybe just run 500 or 600 miles 8 times a year. Seriously, California Speedway, single file, no passes, no grip, for 6 hours. That isn't fun to me. Now Daytona or Talladega, I don't know if I call that fun, but sitting on the edge of my couch watching those boys run inches from eachother for 6 hours, that is something to see. Lowe's, Texas, and Atlanta I could watch all day long as well.
And bristol/ martinsville would still be entertaining to me at 150 miles or so. But yeah, that's me.
