Bear with me here...
Background: Im older.. Mom is ancient but still gets around. Mom is coming into town to visit my wife and I.. I smoke like a chimney in Alaska.. Im medical and almost died 3 years ago related to complications of ulcerative colitis ( a painful intestinal disease that radically lowers the quality of life for those afflicted). Have daily pain, naseua, fatigue.. but hate pain killers and seditives (pills)..Whatever..
So the mom is coming into town and I've got a crop mid swing, no way to hid it. Mom knows I have been sick for years, knows my condition, sickness.. She does not know I smoke..
... and the I have between the airport to home to let her know I'm a California medical MJ patient and it saved my life.. Don't quite know how she is going to react.. Oh and I have a crop going, don't mind the dead skunk smell.. LOL
So I tell her in the car on the way back to home, "Mom I got something to tell you and I don't know how your're going to react." She tensed up and I could tell she got really nervous. I told her, "Mom, i'm a medical mj patient." after I said that I looked ahead and waited for her reaction.
To my totaly dismay... Of the the reactions I was expecting she said, "Oh thank god, I thought you were going to tell me something like they had found a cancer or something!" Her next question was "so your legal huh?" and I told her yes. She then told me that she was glad and had a few questions. After that we exchanged stoner stories! Wow!!
She is still here for a for more days, but is totally supportive, more than I ever would have imagined. She was totally cool about the plants and was interested in how it all worked. I was totally blown away..
Today I'm in the kitchen and a moderate nasuea wave comes over me. Mom looks at me and says, " You just turned all white, go smoke so you can come back and eat something.." Wow.. She just understood.. No stigma, no guilt, just you are in pain, go smoke and feel better.
Sorry for the post, but I have been so blown away, I just wanted to share!

..... glad to hear it working out like that for once.... far too many people have issues with their parents and their habits, no matter at what age
