The Space Cabinet

Need a place to dump photos of grows via the space cabinet I built.

3000k 40w cob led strip light and ufo fecida 65w led that will dim to almost off during later stages.

Overall 45~ watt grow with 500w dehuey running minimally, in small space. Half gallon ffof to be top dressed when needed later on.

Popped a bean, will take a few days. I drew out what I am going for plant structure wise, I think this should work. Any tips, comments are welcome.

Rough time germinating. Took a full 8 days to get going. Did not think it would make it at first so I just put it in a tiny bit of dirt and light. It helmet headed almost too long un noticed. Seeds are a year old and few have runted out.

Used to seeds vigorously popping open and growing out with minimal effort. Last few attempts feel like I am giving it my all. This time with humid conditions, the towel did not dry at all. My dehuey dried it out last time within hours for obvious reasons but I under estimated the difference. Well anyway here we go.

I have another one coming that I am not sure what to do with since I thought this one would die. Might throw it in a couple gallons ffof left over and put into the 2x2.

Here is a better shot, the next day. It is growing fast. Like coco fast haha. Got a couple more 3 speed fans. One for upper canopy and one for below. It takes a lot of space but I would use them. I know how easy mold/rot appears, lost a plant to it. Day 3 and the other bean has not popped at all.

Seeds were in poor storing conditions for a year. I swear every other bean is giving me trouble. Wet towel never dry, steady 70F 50rh. Could be warmer but should still work.

I think its safe to call its name now which is gg4 auto by auto seeds. The rival of lorider which is their own auto I guess just called “auto” crossed with gg4 if I recall correctly. Considering 20/0 lighting to avoid lights off RH swings.

The other bean was a dud. I guess this one is running the show. It is growing as fast as coco still. The real update are the fans installed. Makes it tricky to make the structure I am going for but if I slant it into a X shape in the box, I think it will barely fit.

Repositioned strip lights since it was spacey and went too far down, not going to be any buds down there. Transplanting in a week, not trying to stress it, letting it get itself going first in a half cup of dirt.

As far as the structure goes I am not sure how to do it, just winging it. Top and leave 2 nodes and prune it a lot as it grows until the end of stretch of flower. Let me know if you have a better way of explaining it. I think it is basically 1 cola training but with 4 here.

Seedling still going at it, just watered since it was light and sandy. Now leaving it be for few days then transplant. Just showing the recovery from helmet heading.

Also showing off my new decal. Thought it was going to be much bigger. Now it is more space themed. Now need to install a finger/eye ball scanning access panel. Just kidding.

I transplanted into half gallon ffof. Watered it so it stuck together, then watered again thoroughly in final pot.

I Trimmed cup and cut the bottom of cup diagonally as close to bottom as possible to just remove the bottom, then cut the cup in half with a slice, then used finger to cut it the rest of the way being delicate. Then potted and lifted it out.

I also aligned it to the middle as much as possible successfully. Just noting for those who find transplanting hard, it can be with a seedling.

I initially could of planted it deeper and better and had a chance to again this time but ended up being level instead but oh well, it should out grow the coil shape that wobbles.

I recommend planting better but seedling can fall apart if fiddled too much and can bend/kill it which I almost did once. So I called it a day. Runoff hose is working, that is cool.

wait longer to transplant next time. not rootbound, but close. top it in the solo cup before going to a gal , like the 3rd node.- then another month of veg, topping as you like. then go to 3 gal when flowering. take clones before flower, 4-5 weeks in solo cups, then go to gallon for another 3 or 4 weeks, top it as you like. then transplant to 3gal when flowering.. repeat

Yea I tranplanted a bit early, there were no visible roots but am sure they are there. It was in a half cup so I thought it needed more asap. This is an auto so that would be 2 weeks into flower that the 3 gallon transplant recommendation would be.

I chose half gallon because I do not need a big plant, 2 gallons of coco was too much last time. Coco in general is too vigorous, I realized a 2x2 isn’t even worth using coco with.

So half gallon I thought would keep plant smaller as well as being an auto. The cup to the half gallon doesn’t seem like I am up potting too big too fast. I don’t think there were any sizes in between that I could of used.

I am doing 2 gallons for a 2x2 so figured this should be about 4x smaller just about. I did over crowd before so I am trying to avoid that. Or over pruning a oversized plant.

Photo dump. So far not bad, some growing pains probably from hot soil that will accustom soon if not already. The wobbly coiled stem I mentioned became an issue, plant falls over easy. I added more soil to get it sturdy and chance to root out more to sturdy itself.

Dang, I would tranplant better initially so this don’t happen but it should still work and out grow it and turn into a trunk. Leaves as big as pot just about, growth spurt. Wow it still is growing as fast as coco but perhaps less root density. Going to top the plant in a few days.

Middle fan is turned on low for plant yoga and airflow.

Holy cow, this is the earliest I ever topped, 16 days old. Trying to get the 4 main line branch structure going asap. I guess I just keep clipping side growth till start of mid flower or slightly sooner. One cola training on 4 branches.

Weekly update/photo dump. At this rate I am making a detailed photo time lapse of this grow. Should be snipping things off weekly pretty soon. Taking early shape already. Chose first two nodes so I have less to lollipop.

When I say as fast as coco, I mean for pot size and in general. I see daily vigor, enough to be impressed for the labor going in. It is close in size to a 30 day old coco solo cup plant I tossed not long ago. Should be even closer around day 30 for this plant. I watered once through out the last week.

Info on the light, it is a fecida 65w 1.5x1.5ft coverage at 12-18-24” flower, veg and seedling. 400-800-1000ppfd. It has white, yellow and red light. Simple light, planning on keeping it no more than half way on and then dimmed with space light strips on full in flower since this is a space grow.

The strip lights read 8000 lux at a couple inches away which is like 150ppfd. The ufo dimmed is 10000 lux at a couple inches away so I think it can grow into it and help light up most of the plant and the strip lights will help keep buds lit. I tried it before, it worked, the buds grew into the light.

Temps and rh is 80-70F day/ night, 30-46RH%, 24/0 lighting. The swings are probably from ambient temps swinging from cold nights and box not being lit up fully. AC has been running a lot this summer, cool day temps and cold nights but heat from the dehuey will counter it slightly when used later. Small bedroom gets cold at night, like it needs its own climate control.

I turned up the ufo half way and reset hygro meters. Strip lights add heat but not yet needed. Dehuey adds heat and decreases humidity. Just reporting those conditions and will continue to in flower more critically. Right now I am at 18” 17k lux or 300ppfd. Not sure how accurate phone apps are but it hits 42000 lux at 11-12” away. Chime in if you want on that.

Plant has the box all to self now. Nice to see things coming together, last attempt didn’t go well.

Nice clean set up. Humidity is a little low but I battle the same thing at certain times. Lately it was a very high humidity but the dehumidifier did its job. Keep it growing.

Early update, just found out one branch is mutated with another stem. Not trying to have any polyploid buds but what do yall think? I was going to cut all side growth to keep it 4 main branches. Flowers in a few days or will start to.

I watered on 7/10 but it shocked a little so thinking need to water slightly sooner. Perked back up the next day so not thinking overwatered. Leaves were starting to droop and was light/dry.

Let me know what you would do. Cut off that main branch or prune into one?

Shoot, the other branch is a mutant too. Whole plant shoots out 3 directional nodes. The bottom two don’t but I am thinking that was bad idea to keep the first node, takes too long to match vigor in a small plant. Plant being a mutant adds to the space theme haha.

Not sure what to do with this and if it is going to be a crap show of polyploid buds which I don’t want. Is this part of why they say autos are unpredictable?

I am not certain that this means the buds will be messed up, I assumed that when finding out it was mutant. Upon a second look with pics it isn’t bad but hard to tell what isnt a double branch or a alternating node. It seems to be a whole main line effected and one spot on the other branch.

Let me know what anyone thinks, open journal.

Watered 7/14 and pot is already light weight and dry today two inches deep. Leaves perk when watered then droop again two days later with dry pot.

Given the watering habbits through out the thread which isn’t long, is this over or under watering or is this going fine? Is it because pot is so small and plant is switching to flower and rooted the pot already? Watered one time a week post transplant, then after 4 days now 2.

Did not think it would dry in two days but if that is how it is then so be it. Just feels like something else is off. Open journal, let me know what you think.

Another sign over water is leaves having a soaked look to them so leaving it be for a day hopefully can get feed back before doing anything further.
