I've done flush and no flush and seen no difference in any part of the plant incl the roots. I'm flushing when the plant is near the end of its life cycle. I don't care about stress. In fact, I think it is the stress that prompts the plant to squeeze out the last of thc. I add 1 teaspoon per gallon (DWC) of raw honey. I think I'm getting better taste and yield with this as opposed to running nutes right up till chopping.
I jumped to the end,......
I personally don't see how you get a good flush in soil without removing the plant from the pot and largely rinsing the roots clean.
I jumped to the end, but IMHO flushing does indeed work.
I grow in hydro - aero/nft with net cups and no medioum. When I flush I start with clear water and a cleaned filter. Within a day, I can see the water dark again. I flush it out several days in a row and I can see the roots lighten up in color and the water remain mostly clear at the end.
One thing I always hear as a hydro grower is that organic, soil grown weed tastes much better. Why is that? Possibly, because you are smoking actual shit and other organic matter in the weed? I prefer to taste the actual cannabis, not the medium it was grown in. As Hank Hill says, "Taste the meat, not the heat".
I wonder if the "myth" factor comes just from dirt growers. I personally don't see how you get a good flush in soil without removing the plant from the pot and largely rinsing the roots clean.
Your tomato example has nothing to do with hydro vs soil and everything to do with ripe vs. unripe. Same goes for the peppers or the avocados or the mangos etc, etc. They're picked prematurely to 'ripen' in the store. It's no different than comparing the pink/hard hydro tomatoes at the grocery store with a fresh juicy vine ripened tomato from your neighborhood veggy stand. There is no comparison in the quality. Same goes for weed in my experience.

Quick update on my drowning with molasses.... Hope you dont mind me posting a pic of my plant everyday till she is dead RM3?
So I added another 3 Tablespoons of Molasses to the mix so I have a total of 6 Tablespoons of Molasses to 3 Gallons of water. Now it looks like she is drowning is some Black Oil!!! She is getting yellow....she is pulling the "N" a lot quicker than I actually thought. These pics are taken this morning about 2 hours after my lights came on. I am also noticing the clawing affect of her leaves too.

Careful with how much molasses you use there, I've heard too much can cause your weed to caramelize when burning. I've never seen this myself, because I never exceed 1tb/gal but take it fwiw.
Thanks for the info much appreciated, I guess I will see when its time to smoke.
