Does anyone have any photos of thrip damage? I am pretty sure they are what caused my lower fans to look so sickly. Any help would be very much appreciated...

the lighting in this picture makes it hard to see, but the little spots are white/shiny. i was noticing spots like this from time to time on some of my plants and upon closer inspection found thrips, i think there coming from the fox farms soil im using, now whenever i see evidence of em i spray my veging plants with monterry garden insect spray (spinosad), it works great just spray 3 times total with 3-5 days between spraying. for whatever reason they seem to stay out of my flowering room and ive only seen some light damage on the fan leaves during veg like pictured. they also have been very easy to manage.

Thanks jd123, I got them under control now. They just did some damage before I got rid of them. Just wanted to make sure it was from them and not something else. So all the photos a guy can look at are helpful. Thank you

I have always grown bag seed, so i have never really grown out clones. But now that I have TGA gear, I am looking for keepers. I have started clones of all 9 of my vortex plants in veg (2 of each). Have them all labeled, and are looking great on day 2. My question is....If the clone does not have staggered internodes, will it eventually, or do I need to take a clone from a staggered branch to have staggered internodes?

Thats a good question about cloning before or after they start alternating internodes. Is there a difference between cloning before or after? I know mine some were cloned before they showed staggering and the clones staggered after a couple nodes.
I have a question about the wipping thing you did to the tops of your branches. The rough whip you did that turned the tops to turn limp...do you only do that in veg or is early flowering ok to? I must say awesome trick for training your plants. I did it to a stretchy sativa that had large internode spacing and it really tightened up the nodes spacing a lot and toughened up the stems. I had been working training, topping, bending, and strengthening the stems the whole time and this trick really threw it over the top thanks bro.

yeah I like biochar.
I use it in the garden as well as in my own version of supersoil. Lots of surface area for microbes etc as well. Don't know how well it goes in the supersoil though yet (hasn't been tested - so don't rush out and throw it in yet lol)

Howdy all, we've never noticed a difference in a cut rooting whether it be symmetrical or staggerd nodes. From our experience the plant will stay in symmetry if grown from seed and NO fluctuations to the light cycle, and of course enough light provided to keep the plants in veg. Also, as Sub says if grown from seed, as long as you wait till the plants have at least 5 nodes before topping,(we like a min of 8 nodes on the plant before taking a top cutting), the plant should not get to stressed out. And last, we've grown out plants in our greenhouse from seed, and from cut... in the end, folks that don't know, can't tell the difference. They all get large. But if you are on a short veg time, seeded ladies tend to definately be more vigorous.

What up Nerds? I wonder if any of you who are getting thrips have outdoor pets ever entering your grow rooms. I saw Sub's dog in his once. Could possibly be a carrier of such critters as thrips, whiteflies, spider mites, etc. Just a thought. Another thought about the Biochar. The stuff seems great in theory for soils that are devoid of any good nutrients, but too add it to the SS recipe sounds like absolute overkill. But that could only be witnessed through multiple trials. I'll bet a Nerd around here somewhere is up for the trial. PEACE

I'm gonna go get some today and all to my topsoil and with my composted soil. Whether I see results this year or next, it is good for the environment which is another plus. I'll post an outdoor log once I get my plants in the ground.

Biochar is good stuff from what i hear supposed to be almost all carbon. The thing about pot growin is i guess biochar takes years to break down. Im sure a little wouldnt hurt but may not have any noticeable advantages.
