The Weed Nerd~

exactly. it is up to US as growers to share the tricks of the trade with those who so choose to learn, not neccesarily for the sake of monatary value, but for the plant itself.

if all the growers out there were against sharing their knowledge then marijuana would be back to its natural hemp state within decades. pure and simple.

my goal in joining GC, RIU, YouTube etc has been to share the knowledge i have with those that are willing to learn, and seek out knowledge, a lazy, short sighted grower does not a grower make.

i was very excited when i found the weed nerd as it encompases these grower values, and i am glad that it is here to stay.

stay green!

is a 5 pack of each enough? Is it likely that I will find a keeper out of any of them?

jtr,

Just my 2 bits
is a 5 pack of each enough? Is it likely that I will find a keeper out of any of them?
Jacks cleaner 2 - have not grown
apollo 13 bx - tasted & is dank
querkle - growing querkle x green crack currently
cheesequake - growing currently
chernobyl -DANK, DANK, DANK
the flav - DANK, DANK, DANK
agent orange, tasted & is DANK
jtr, - DANK, DANK, DANK

Each pack will have different phenos & you pick the one you want

Will 5 be enough? It depends, everyone's set up is different & I usually run 3 to 10 beans depending on what is going on

I am also limited to 12 "veg" plants where I live

T

u are very likely to find one or more mothers from each 5 pack, earlier today one comment i saw was 'subs seeds are one of the only ones where u can get 6 females from a single 5 pack of seeds' (twining)

dont just pick the moms when they are in veg tho, keep clones and watch the girls as they flower so u can see the diff parent pheno that arises and make the decision there.

thats a mistake that is made all too often, people toss potential strain gold because veg growth is slow or some other trivial reason.

my blue magoo will veg slowly for about 4-5 weeks staying short and stout, and then she hits a spurt and reaches for the sky very quickly, it would be a shame if she had been tossed simply for starting veg slowly.

just my 2 cents on pickin mother pheno's im sure a lot of u know these basics but for those that dont, i post!

Cheers bro...

I will be keeping a cutting of all females to begin with...and maybe a male or two...and only throw them out after the cure. I'm all for the quality, so I don't mind slow veg times or long flowering if that is what it takes....for me it is all about terpenes and the high.

It didn't used to be like that, all about the terpenes and high, but now that it's legal in some states it can be all about that 'ome Grown. In the old days, you needed the most amount of dank in the shortest time. You needed outdoor that could finish by Sept. 21. Here's a funny story you. Hemp grows wild in my area and finishes by the end of August up North. Because of this, the police think all marijuana finishes in about mid August. So they'll fly the Blawkhawk Chopper at $10,000 an hour in august when all good plants are in veg...LOL. It's pretty funny.

10,000 seems a little steep, even for the SR-71. but i see the point, unfortunately here they know the seasons extremely well and fly over just in time to ruin many a growers hard earned harvest. thankfully due to OMMP the flights are now shorter, and more directed at the cartel crops in the hills than the small or even medium size medical gardens. they go out looking for the fields in the hills after constant criticism from the community.

Not truly. Sub offers you a diverse mix of possibilities in his genetics. With mixed sex seeds I would not want less then a 10 pack unless I was not picky.

For those of you who may feel shortchanged by missing #31, you should know that Subcool is not talking in most of the short video. It is another person who visits a Steep hill mobile lab with audio that's sometimes hard to hear, so it is unlike any of the other vids. Don't fret, you're not missing out on any of Subs golden down home spun tales or anything. It's a short video without Subcool appearing for the most part. I've learned that YouTube videos can be very political. You must be quite careful what you say what you criticize. It's like being on TV, even commenting. It's not a place to shoot from the hip without thinking about how others may perceive it. You must monitor yourself more on YouTube.

I've got an idea. How about an EXCLUSIVE Subcool cannabis cup for the weednerd show?

I don't care what other judges think, I want Sub, the Weed Nerds opinion. I think it would be interesting and informative if the weed nerd could judge our buds in a blind test. Meaning, we submit a sample to Sub and assign it a number so Subcool only knows the sample by a number. We could have two categories, Bio/organic and hydro. Sub could test them on the show and give us feedback live as he tests them out. He could smoke a different sample every day to get a better idea of the high. The samples could be TGA or other genetics. I'll be ready to submit a sample in a couple months.

I think it would be "highly" informative and provide interesting content for the show. All Sub needs a neutral address to take delivery. It would be very interesting and provide good original Youtube content. I want to know what Sub likes because he's making the beans.

Erie Genetics, that's very interesting regarding Colorado's cannabis laws. Can you talk a little more about it works? Colorado seems to control everything from seed to sell. How do dispenser's get there meds? I heard you can't even grow if there's a dispenser within 30 miles or something? Wow, that's harsh.

Sorry you've been misinformed but this is 100% not true...you can grow your own up to six plants 3 mature 3 not...I believe the dispensaries here are now supposed to grow 95% of their medicine in house...the other 5% they can either buy or trade from other clubs...at least this is how it was explained to me.

yo tcurtis...

thanks for your thoughts on the strains...what I meant by asking if 5 of each would be enough, I meant will I find keepers of each strain? From reading dank 2.0 it seems that keepers are easy to find...but looking at other seed banks, to find a killer pheno you would have to go through at least 10 seeds...so I would be happier to buy 10 seeds of 4 strains rather than 5 seeds of 8...

SUB quest? about fems,i just grew out 3 fem seeds and 1 of the 3 produced nanners, i plucked and quarantined for a couple days then returned when all clear. after being hung up i found seeds along one midshelf branch. being that these came from a fem plant these seeds are also feminized correct? what if they came from a regular seed plant that produces nanners and self pollinates, will those seeds be fem also? thats 100%natural isnt it not? natural fem seeds? or am i misunderstanding..?

Watched every EP including morning shows, keep em coming! East coast here w a completly dif music taste n I still love ur show:leaf::bigjoint:

Yes, what you have there is all female seed. All seed produced by banana pollen will be female. The resulting plants could look completely normal and most will, however some might have a tendency to herm and be of lower quality generally. Don't be afraid of fem seed, it's just that pro breeders don't use them in breeding projects.

Me myself, I have went with five packs for nine strains so far. I think this is a much better decision because I cover more strains faster. If one or two of the strains really stand out and I want a pheno that I didn't get, then I wont hesitate to get another 5 or 10 pack of something I love. A problem many have with regular seeds isn't the extra work involved with sexing, it is our limitations on plant count. That is another reason why I prefer five packs.
