Theft... Why?

So Last Night around 8 I walked through my garage to go water my grass. and when i walked back in I saw my Longboard up against a wall. thought about riding it a bit but I didn't
So i went inside, about 10:30 my buddy came over, and he showed me his new bike.
and I noticed it was gone, I was like ahh, So i called my friend who asked me the other day if she could barrow it, and she said she didnt touch it,
and I noticed the car door was open, and i looked in the car to see if anything was missing, I didnt see anything.
so this morning, i call my mom and told her and she was like "THEY TOOK MY CAR CHARGER" after I said the door was slightly opened.

I called and made a report, 10 minutes later a officer calls, and says he had my board.
And a detective came about 3 minutes after I hung up with the officer, they have my charger and board. my tax dollars going to good use I guess.

I guess the guy went around and stole a bunch of shit. Like K he took the stupidest shit.
k a longboard? 200 dollars, and a dinky car charger, maybe worth 5 bucks.
there was money in the car. not touched.
I dont understand.

I guess the guy got what was coming to him right?

but they asked if I wanted to press charges i said Yes.
What happens now that I said that I want to press charges?

you're going to have to testify in court as to what happend.

I hate people who steal from other people. I've had people kick in our garage door a few times, they never took anything though

Its fucked up, i had it happen a few years back, with a snow board, I normally keep the garage closed, but theft isnt cool.

they'll charge him, but at least here it'll fall under theft under 5000 which is just a fine

edit: the fine would be pretty hefty though, I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking somewhere around $1000

I'm not sure about it if it was a lot of people. They might all have to charge him which I'm sure they would if they call in to the cops. Either way, if he's stealing stuff he's probably a crack head or something looking for money and this fine would fuck him over hardcore. Also if he doesn't pay I'm pretty sure it will eventually lead to jail time instead
