These look ready for some nutes?

When you reuse the soil, do you weed out all the roots or do you leave them in? I.e. do you just cut the old plants and go again, or do you sift out the soil, and then re-amend and re-pot?

You can keep the roots, just don’t leave pots full of soil where cats can get to them. They will pee in them and I’m pretty sure cat pees to hot for pot plants

I just did this. Harvested plant and let the pot dry out completely. Took a gardening knife and cut out the original root ball and plugged in another veg plant. Watered and fed and put into flower a week later. It's very healthy and forming buds. Medium is only Promix hp fed with maxibloom in tap water.

I am naming this technique faux till gardening.

I already feed the neighborhood strays. I’m basically bubbles from trailer park boys except ridiculously good looking.

Actually I lived with two cats for a while (it's when I found out I'm allergic to them). They act like they don't give a fuck all day, but when food enters the play, they go crazy.

Like, when they heard the sound of the cat food container being opened in the kitchen, they raced to the feeding pot like their live depended on it. And of course the fighting over food.

In the morning they would scratch at my door to give them food, then act like I don't really exist all day.

Probably you're right, they're shitheads.

I’m not a cat person, never have been, I crack up every time a cat person says how awesome they are and then goes through the list of bad personality traits and damage caused lol. I’m not up for dead mice in my shoes, cat piss on my records, or puke piles lol

Mine are snuggly adorable mischievous shitheads, but really the worst they do is occasionally knock a plug out of an outlet(irritating when it’s the router and I’m in the middle of a game) but they give me a reason to get up in the morning. Dogs are cool, just to fuckin needy for me.

Just leave their food bowl full all the time.

Ha ha ha. Been doing this forever. I pull the entire plant out and shake the plant to remove most all dirt. Then look at the fullness of the root system reviewing my past to the nuts I am using. I reuse soil at least a couple times adding perlite and lime. Guess we all win...lol
I do the same as you, shake the fuck out of the roots, keep as much soil as possible and top it up with some sand, perlite, and about 80% compost, then add the dry nutes, I total drench the plants in veg before potting up in dry soil.
I remove the roots because they block drainage holes, root mass is a solid block after I chop the plants.

I do have a big bag of FFHF dry amendments, would i just want a layer worked into the topsoil?
The one time I used the dry amendments I definitely did not use it correctly lol
Ya, mix it in to the top. It takes a week or 2 to start working though. I'd start at a lower does at first, and then just add more every couple weeks or so.

The Big Bloom is decent stuff. It's the only organic bottled nute they have. It should help with breaking down the top dressing too.

Ya, I've always free fed my animals dry food. My cat gets wet food too a couple times a day. The dog gets treats and bones and the dry food is always full.

My animals have all been good about it. Never fat or overweight.

I don't know if it's a good idea to do it to all animals though. But if they are use to eating when anytime they're hungry they donate seem do overdo it.

Now if you have an animal that only gets fed when you decide to feed them and switch over I could see them maybe going overboard.

I'm no animal specialist though.

I give my cat a can of wet in the morning and one in the evening. I leave the dry bowl always full. My cat is an indoor, outdoor cat though. I think he gets plenty of exercise because he isn't getting any fatter.

My asshole dog will not touch his dry food for days holding out for human food. He absolutely despises hard food and will crunch it one kernel at a time. He will make sure you hear him and see his disgust. So we switched to just giving him food twice a day. Now his fat ass seems to love dog food when he can’t just get it anytime if the day. He will devour his bowl instantly. Wouldn’t you know it now he is getting fat. Animals are like people who can’t speak. Just gotta feel their vibe
