Thief protection

A dog and ideally a security light with a movement sensor if it's feasible?
I think Bob the builder's posts above are really sound advice, you can easily end up being the one getting fucked.

What I want to know is how they were able to nab that big ass plant?? Did they cut it down or rip it out or something?
Cut into pieces, can all be in trash bags in about 60 seconds, quicker if more than one person... especially if its not all tangled in trellis and cages.
Unfortunate but Ive seen video of 3 people taking 10 large plants in a matter of 4 minutes, in and out, bagged and looking like they were hauling trash only. They were even in trellis, But they just destroyed the buds, ripping bending and dropping pieces everywhere, They still made off though...
They definitely had someone on the inside because it seemed they picked them on the best night possible, just as they were peaking ripeness.

Rule is always keeping your mouth shut, even telling your most trusted best friend or family... I've heard some stupid ass conversations between close friends on a bench or some stupid shit, where if I were determined enough, it wouldn't be an issue for them to lead me right to whatever they were talking about and they would've been clueless anyone had been following them.

By september, have your plants on watch 24/7 well until after harvest...Some rippers (the "smarter" ones..) would just wait until you finish curing rather than steal the plants... Why not let you do the dry trim and cure also?

Outdoor growers have to maintaining a secure grow location but should also keep it stealthy and hidden. For the home grower this means you should not be able to see your grow or plants from outside your yard. The OP’s plants are way taller than the privacy fence so I have to wonder if the rippers were someone who spotted the grow or if it was someone who knows the OP and knew they were growing?

Gotta have a fence with plants topped not to be taller.
Motion lights on points of entry but not on plants
Camera with night vision
Some wind chimes or a bell near or hanging by your plants

Be careful how INJURED they can get

Asking for a lawsuit

A dog is safe. Electric fence or worse is not normal backyard fair... Lawyers would love that
It is if you live in bear country. But I doubt it would deter anyone for long. People are smart. A good shock will startle you but you will figure it out pretty quickly.

Lights. Noise. And a spray system that will either soak the attacker in something super smelly or uv reflective (or both) will work a lot better.

I like that UV reflective idea.... Gave me a thought of just having the plot be wide open, but invisible UV tracking liquid moat or some way to get them to track them back to whereever they went, although the plants are already chopped, and likely useless for car getaways... (unless you embedded a gps tracker into a certain cola or something)bongsmilie:eyesmoke:

Get some of these for your shotgun, lol. Just aim for their ass and not their face.
It's still amazing watching a thief schitt when you rack a shell. Never had to pulled the trigger thankfully. And I have not seen the same thief twice.

I have a large very defensive husky. Will eat you! He has caught 2 people. Bloody mess each time. Left their limbs attached thankfully. The law in my state requires beware of dog signs every 50' in clear view on all sides of property to not be liable for the dogs actions.

I have had some fun with a motion activated sprinkler with a tank of food coloring under the plant. You're ripper is obvious after tripping that for weeks. Too many POS losers out here.

A dog is probably your best bet. Cameras will only allow you to watch someone steal your stuff as they laugh and walk away unfortunately. Everyone is wearing a mask nowadays and so hard to determine who it is. A motion detector flood light will probably come on way too much from wildlife etc and might mess with flowering cycles. Electric and or barbed wire fences are asking for lawsuits like someone said which is pretty unfortunate as you can’t even protect your property anymore. The law sucks sometimes. Some people I know literally set up a tent in their yard and sleep next to them the last two weeks but they have a lot more than one plant lol. Best advise is to keep quiet and make it difficult for someone to get to it. Criminals are lazy. If they can’t get in and out quickly they probably won’t bother.

ObviousSecurityMeasuresDeterrents.png

That would be me... Have been living and working in this small section of yard besides food/bathroom/shower/etc. breaks, since the middle of August

These are just some of the security measures that are in the open, that I want people to see (unfortunately This is sort of public facing end, the tents (one on other end) are visual deterrents just as much as me being ready to pounce from inside.

The trip wire is green fishing line connected to a 3 dollar window magnet alarm just to wake me up if they somehow made it through the other trip wire near the perimeter (The ones I dont want you to see) as well as some other unmentioned security devices focused on the perimeter....

The camera is real, catches the road leading away from the public(but deserted) area. Its connected with more than 5 other cameras around the back side of the property. Includes real time text alerts motion sensitivity, night vision, etc. connected to plenty of HDD space But the cameras are mainly for alerts if needed to run somewhere in emergency and no one is there to watch, and any after math investigation if they somehow got away.
