Thinking about doing a micro grow before i do my main in august/september.

Im gonna use the 32 gallon tote i have for clones and just use CFL for veg and flower.

I guess LSTing would be the way to go huh with a confined space?

Here is a picture of my tote. I just wanna do it cause im really bored lol and would like a little project. Question, Should i just go with 6-8 26 watt cfls or should i go with 2 42 watts and 6 26? Id rather not spend any more money except on soil since this is just for the hell of it. Although im sure id use the 42 watts in my future grow for vegging since im just vegging with CFL.

you should get some y splitters so those bulbs hang over the plant horizontally, the way they are now your losing a ton of light since its the middle of the cfl that really put out light, not the end of the bulb, youve got 6 holes? 12 26w in y splitters and you should be good to grow for now.

what else would be nice you get the sun reflective screens (silver)and put that at the top, bottom, and around the sides, and you could put reflectors behind the bulbs to get all the light, (which is what i need to do because mine are hanging like yours), but i say use the car reflective stufff, or something similar, and suggest maybe a few more bulbs would not kill.

Yeah, i may if its not too much, like i said i dont wanna spend 20 extra bucks on this right now. 4-8 bucks sure, but not 20, if the reflective shit is 6 bucks and i need 2, thats 12 :\.

Id rather not get in to Y splitters, they are 3 bucks each, then i need 6 more bulbs (which arent expensive, the Y splitters are though) :(

at the most ill probably put 2-4 more bulbs along the sides. All depends on price though, i can always just see how it goes lol.

ya can have all tha light ya want, as long as your temps are adequate. Have you done a dry run yet? How is your ventilation setup? With the lights so close to the lid an proper use of reflective material on the inside(lid)... then individual bulb reflectors would probably not be needed. Not sure if that is what mike was referring to.

airflow should be good. 2 pc fans intake 2 pc fans exhaust.

FUCKING CFLS ARE LIKE 10 bucks for 4 now. They used to be like 7-8 for 6, wtf man. Im gonna wait until i can find a cheap deal on pots and shit too. I did get my soil though, 2 bucks a bag thank god it didnt go up.

Astaldoath, sorry yo I need to look at pics before I read the threads. Did not notice you have sprayed the inside. Maybe another coat of paint, the inconsistency of the paint might screw with the reflectiveness. I would think your ventilation should work. Yea them prices can add up, hey are those brand new bulbs in the picture? The reason I ask is I see some dirt or maybe it is the plastic fading. If they are old I would recommend that you start your grow with brand new bulbs. Then you can be more certain for the constant lumen output. CFL do degrade through their lifetime.

The CFL are only 1- 1 1/4 month used. So I think they got about 2 months on em yet.

My damn lowes doesnt have the 6 packs of bulbs for 9.99 for some reason, only 2 packs. :(

Yeah im gonna coat it with another coat of paint, i did that in the winter hehehe. Im gonna go grab the paint and some plastic cups today.

I was kinda worried. Do you think that will be enough room to grow in? I mean will i be able to keep the plants low enough?

I was gonna LST em, but even then u think it would work?


You see dirt cause i tried to grow some a while ago but the soil and peat cups i had sucked ass lol, they died

ok, i decided im just gonna buy the car reflectors, Im not spending all kinds of time spray painting the inside of that. Its gonna take me 3 cans to get it a flat finish lol. Id rather spend 8 bucks for 2 jumbo car reflectors lol

Hmm i think i might need better PC fans. Its like 85 inside my little box with the lights on, its only been on for a while lol.the 2 are blowing in good, the exhaust just dont seem to be workin as well.


I guess imma get a 120mm 75 cfm fan

i hear ya on not wanting to undo your grow box... maybe sometime after harvest if ya do not plan to grow back to back. That is if the reflectors don't work for ya. Hey how many plants ya growing. Also I just want to clarify... are ya using the 6500k(daylight) bulbs for the vegg cycle? I did not see that stated an rather save ya some possible stunted growth.

For LST I would have to refer you over to Attic's Grow. In his grow he has some great comparison pictures, an there is a good diagram around page 8 I believe for LST. I myself do have 2 plants that are going through LST now, being subbed to Attic's grow gave me the itch to try it out. Attic's LST'd plant also has a real cool rare genetic trait where some of the pistols are a vibrant pink color.... very interesting! :eyesmoke:

Im just gonna do 3. with the 6500k or 6000k 23 watt cfls (6 of em) for veg then im gonna get 6 of the 2700k or 3500k for flower. or maybe 4 23 wats and 2 42 for flower.
