THINKING ABOUT GETTING SOME T5s

i was looking at getting a quantum badboy 4foot 12lamp system instead of a mh or hps...so i dont have to deal with as much heat and i dont want the electric bill from it...does anyone have any exerience with this system?? i was thinking of maybe getting 2 of them i think that would handle like 6 or so plants..

this is the link for it take a look give me some opinions...:weed:

You can buy a fixture at Lowes and the bulbs too. or you could use compact CFL's, much more concentrated light. That seems to be what most use when it comes to fluorescents... Good luck!

The hydrofarm t5 is what I use. 2-3 plants under a 4' 6 bulb.....topped and trained gives me 1.25-2 oz per plant. Keep them close and lots of airflow around the bulbs ;)

im not 100% sure but instead of them i think a 250w envirllight might do better, just keep them realy close

I veg with T5's and light from the sides is an absolute must for me. I use 12 of those 4' HO's also, but use them in three fixtures set up as a 4' long tunnel with the plants in the center. Side growth fills the 24" tunnel in less than a week, then I clone and it fills up in another week and I clone again. Right now I have three days before cloning the second time.

Without light on the sides the clone site selection sucked, now the clones are all from growing branch tips and I can pick and choose from too many.
After the second cloning they veg another week to 24" wide again and are put to bud. Clones are in trays, another post.

Using the same identical lights for budding that are currently being used for veg is not going to get spectacular results, especially if the lights aren't following the plant down the sides 3" away as well as above.

They will bud, but this is 648 watts of veg light.

yeah people say you can use all 6500 then some say mix and then some say all 3000k or lower guess ill try things out and see what happens...yeah thats my puppy:)

I like the T5 systems with 8+ bulbs. You can get some serious lumens under one of those. With two of them you can really blow it up. If your talking about two fixture with 12 bulbs each then you can really do great. Just try to keep the canopy level and you will do great. The benefit if the T5 is that you can get it right above the plants. On the flipside you almost have to put it right on top of the plants. The penetration of photons isn't that great with T5. But with 24 bulbs you won't have as many issues. I live in a cold area, so my lights are what heats my room. I almost have to keep a 400w halide going just to warm it up in there. If I were in a warmer climate I would use only the T5 fixtures.
