ESTERO, FL - The driver involved in a deadly crash that killed a motorcyclist Thursday night is charged with DUI, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened just before 10 p.m. and involved an SUV and a motorcycle. The SUV, driven by 54-year-old Donna Lynne Brown, was traveling north on US-41 and made a U-turn at Constitution Boulevard. Troopers say Brown failed to see 54-year-old motorcyclist Carl Edward Patrick traveling south on US-41 and struck him. According to FHP, Brown did not stop after hitting Patrick and dragged him and his motorcycle for about three miles before she was stopped by deputies. "Sparks were coming from underneath the vehicle and he conducted a traffic stop just north of Corkscrew Road," explained FHP Lt. Greg Bueno. "This just goes to show how quickly something can happen." Deputies initiated a traffic stop north of Corkscrew Road on US-41. Brown was arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter, DUI Property Damage, Hit and Run with Death, DUI and Careless Driving. She's in the Lee County Jail on a $70,000 bond.
