This is a nitrogen deficiency, right?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. On my first grow, I think this is a nitrogen deficiency and want to be sure since I had some nute burn earlier on.

5 weeks old
veg
two large on the left are wonder woman
other two are white widow (shitty) and ktrain (shittier)
coco coir
ph runoff of 5.5
max temp of 80, humidity 30-40%
botanicare veg, about quarter strength I think
watered once a week about, milk gallon containers
400 watt mh about two feet away from plants, dimmed to 50% thanks to heat problems

TIA :)image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Advancing nitrogen deficiency. If you had some nute burn at the early get go did you happen to flush in hopes you prevent a possible anion or cation lock?

I did but not until they looked like they needed more water. Should you flush and overwater or are you supposed to wait like I did?

looks exactly like our plant before we started giving it heavier nutes. IMO don't flush (bc what you said is correct), just wait till she's dry then feed her pretty heavy with nutes. don't be scurred. the crunchy part of the leaves (lol) looks like bugs or somethin. just cut the dead leaves off or whatever if it bothers you.

ok yeah i just read your OP about 1/4 strength. DON'T BE SHY W THE NUTES! someone (legit) here told me "coco coir is NOT soil and should never treated as such" - there are no nutes in coco, so it's hungry! feed her!

and get a $20 oscillating fan from walmart, amazon, etc if you don't have one already and aim that bitch directly at the plants so the leaves wiggle, that may help with the heat. also, dimming your lights to 50% doesn't really do anything as far as reducing heat output is concerned. if your ballast is on, whether its 50 75 or 100%, the fan is going, the light is on and electricity is running through everything... i promise it won't make much of a difference. just keep it at 100. KEEP IT HUNNET lol

If this is trending from the bottom and then up the plant starting with the oldest main fan leaves then it's probably a pH issue.

Let 20% run off on your next feeding and check the pH of the run off. In short, you're looking for drastic differences from the pH going into the medium and the pH coming out of the medium. In the long run, you should be doing this on a somewhat regular basis checking for any significant changes from check to check. Over time you won't need to check it anymore because you'll have a system that works for you.

I feed with 6.3 pH weekly and it typically comes out 6.5. I usually water once or twice in between with clean 6.3 pH water and it typically comes out at 6.3 pH.

Do this before you start letting people diagnose nute def via pics on the inter-webs. I wouldn't mess with your nutes until you are sure about your pH and if pH is a problem flush them good before restarting nutes.

I'm moving up to 5 gallon buckets for my next grow (99 Silver), and I've wrapped them in trash bags for this grow. :)

Careful with the trash bags. They hinder ventilation depending on the pots you're using and may add to humidity and mold issues.

They aren't covered at the bottom where they drain, and I live in super dry Colorado so hopefully isn't a problem. I need to figure out how to mount the humidifer in my grow box so it doesn't take up floor space.. Without blocking light.. Hm

Why the fuck would anyone start with coco for their first grow. Makes no sense, it literally is the same pain in the ass as hydro. The issue is noobs go see advanced setups and then it never works out

Full Nutes,
Full Lights
Add fans to circulate air it will also beef up your stems with the "wind" you are recreating.
Like they Said Above.
I am just a Stoned Nube along for the ride!

@BBbubblegum,
you may be correct, he May have chosen the wrong grow style to cut his teeth on.
But Why do you think are Hydro and Coco Coir so hard?

because He/I need a few meters and some knowledge from the board, that is why I joined.
I started with hydro and so far, fingers crossed all is will going well.

what do you use as a grow system?
what would you suggest to my fellow Nube as a better easier method than Coco Coir
peace,
DZ

The issue with coco is you have to measure out your nutrients like hydro. This is a task within itself so when you add it to the difficulties that every noob has, it usually leads to a fuck up. Personally I grow in my own mix of soil and have no drive to move to hydro anytime soon.
