So I'm starting my second run. Germinating the same as my first which was a success, but while waiting I tumbled further down the cannabis rabbit hole and am curious about my third run an starting it with jiffy pellets an a miniature greenhouse for them. I thought the concept was pretty neat. Anyways the info I have found on this type of germination is very conflicting some say water sow your seeds place in a dark warm place an let them sprout. Others say water sow the seeds an place in a windowsill with sunlight and or a Grow light. With this being said anyone with experience in this who could put a little clarity on the matter some insight would be awesome! Like if under a grow light how long should they be left under light? 24 hrs? 16? 12? Lol I'm tempted to just go buy one from home Depot an just see what the instructions say lol

When I use jiffy pellets, my plants get a real good initial kick from them. Soaked seeds in a shot glass of water for 24hours in warm dark place until they cracked open and got a little taproot. Soak jiffy pellet in water for a few mins, squeeze out excess so it is just moist, slightly wet...dig 1/4 deep hole in top, place seed in and lightly cover with some of the pellet material. Put wet jiffy pellet inside a pot of soil and put 20in under 100watt light at 100% on 18/6 schedule and waited for it to pop.

Alright sounds like a plan I will definitely give this a try. Now what about the inline fan to control the heat in the tent? Cause I know just leaving the light on in my tent with it slightly open can get the temps in there up to around 88° f now have an ac infinity fan I can easily control the temperature an have abit more control over the humidity inside the tent as well.. but thanks for the advice!

Seedlings like it a little warmer and moist.

So you are starting your 2nd now and want to start more plants at the same time for a 3rd run. Wouldn't that still be your second run with just more plants?
No..... Im talking about the next time I do another run. My second run is already germinating an all that good stuff, I just happened to read about the jiffy greenhouse kit an was thinking of trying it for my third run. Which I only have a 2x2 (small lil thing!) I can only do so many plants at a time( like two lol)but once this one Is finished I would like to try the jiffy greenhouse thing. It was just the information that I could find on it was conflicting I was just looking for insight for some one who has tried it this way before.

You are months ahead of yourself then. Continue to concentrate on what you are doing now. Focus on keeping them healthy and reading more.

Seeds don't need light to sprout.

Once sprouted just put them on 18/6.

The key to a seed sprouting is moisture, darkness and proper temps. 78 degrees is reccomended
I kinda disagree on this. I believe it's better for seeds to be on 24h light shedule the first week to force them to reach for the light.

Warmer stable temps is also crucial, you get more fluctuations in temp and humidity with starting out with 18/6. Seeds don't need high moisture either to sprout, 50% RH is enough.

I would arge to high RH, domes etc only create an environment for "damp of/wilting of" disease to flourish.

Seedling should be focusing on developing that tap root and fibrous roots, not reaching for the light and stretching

I say do whatever works for you. I've always had higher success rates with seedling on 24h lights for a lot of reasons.

Watering amount and frequency is easier to monitor because the metabolic rate stays the same for that 24h. You're also able to easily access the room without disturbing other sleeping vegging plants.

Personally I believe you just plant the seed in a pot and let it grow.. nature doesn't walk around providing jiffy pots and greenhouses....and as 28 said, it's biggest concern over the first few days is expending energy digging a tap root. The deeper the tap can dig over the first few days, the more developed the plants root system will be.

People get shitty at me all the time for saying this, but hey, there's a reason why my plants at 14 days are bigger than most 5 week plants here....

Now see this is EXACTLY the reason I came on here an asked to see what people had to say (especially anyone with experience using the jiffy greenhouse kits),while reading up on the subject I kept running across the same thing.. everything is exactly the same up until the sunlight/grow light comes into play. An then I start to see a change in opinions, some say keep them under light others say keep them in the dark. Does it matter? ( Jiffy instructions say to keep it out of direct sunlight) I would imagine if I do this method it will be done in my tent an to do that I would have to use the light in order to get the temperatures closer to the 80 mark..an with that being said I have to question how long should the light stay on... 24, 18,. 12.. what?

That's how I did it on my first run an also how I'm currently doing it now nature knows best, just didn't know if it would speed the process up at all I'm still very new to growing so trying to learn an figure out what's the best way to go about doing everything.

Iv never used domes before for seedlings. Only cuttings. Iv always had problems with the Rh being to high. So I gave them up completely an never had an issue with my RH since. Should be seeing some considerable growth everyday. Something.
(Not cuttings seeds lol). But I'm not the expert. That's just personal preference and I use 24 on for seeds and seedling
