IM NEW to this site and im new to growing a friend of mine told me about this site. i have these plants in a hydro system. its only 2 plants they sit on the lid of my nutrient water solution container in these little baskets with little rocks, tubes from the water pump inside the the container go on top of the baskets and one in the baskets (i had extra tubes because only 2 plants took) and a bubble stone in the container also.

i work offshore so my brother is taking care of them when im not home.

they were doing great everything was looking beautiful so i changed the lights from 18 on 6 off to 12 and 12 gradually about a week. then i went offshore when i came back they were starting to flower and looking very good. me and a buddy were talking and i ended up cutting a bunch of the bigger leaves off "so they would concentrate on making bigger buds" i now think that was a stupid move.
i went back to work for 5 weeks when i got home the buds were forming and looking good. but i had to get into the room a few times while the 400wt hps light was off, but i needed to see so i put the regular light on. i was told this might affect them so i stoped doing that.

while i was home for 1 weeks they kinda didnt do much. a few branches got broken before i went to work but not to many maybe 3. so i went to work for 2 weeks and when i got back they hadn't progressed that much. and while i was home they seamed stunned and some of the leave tips and the small leaves that were on the tops and in the buds started turning brown so i started freaking out. so i was showing my friend what was going on (he is growing his first plants also in the same type set up as mine about 7 weeks behind me) and we looked some things up and thought it might be a nutrient problem so i emptied my container cleaned it out and put his nutrients in to see if that would help. in the process i broke a bunch of branches about 10 between the 2 plants. so i tied them up and tied the other branches that were starting to sag uo so they dont break on their own because they r starting to get heavy. took some pictures and went back to work

i been at work for 2 weeks and my brother said they r getting worse. i dont know what to do can someone please help. i been reading about some plant problems on here and i am starting to think it might be nutrient burn. my brother just redid the nutrients 3 days ago with the old nutrients i was using sense the beginning. what can i tell him to do.

I havnt used this system before, I just did a little research and this seemed to be a fast effective way to get a quick healthy grow. But really ebb n flo would have been the easier choice. And yeah i wish i could have got bigger baskets or better yet i wish i would have flowerd sooner. Mine are way to big. But being it is my first grow its all trail n error. I do have drain plugs on mine and on my last rez change i took out a nice branch with alot of bud sites. And i was pissed.:cuss: Straight yelling at myself haha. But the better way now is to just put a hose fitting onto your pump and just pump it into another bucket and just not move the plants at all. Or at least thats what im going to be trying next rez change. Cuz it sure is a bitch moving those things. I stayd in veg a long time also. But mine showed pre flowers at my 5th week so i knew i couldnt wait any longer. Did yours show any at all ? And i hope my pump doesnt fry.

Now on to yours. This is my first time around but with yours you can tell something is wrong. I dont think you killed them just yet. But if you left for a couple weeks and came back and they look the same something went wrong. I dont think its the nutes, i think the main problems was waking them up during ur 12/12. I have read a few threads saying if they get a little amount of light for more then five minutes they will get stunted or go hermies on you. I dont know if you read this before you turned your light on while they were sleeping ? And how many times did you do this ? They dont seem like they are dieing since there colors look healthy still.. But then again this is my first grow so im not a green thumb yet. But you should ask around. but if anything stop turnin the light on during sleep !! It would suck to think you made it that far just for everything to go to shit. But good luck ! All be watching !:eyesmoke:

thanks for the reply i didnt think it would be a big deal with the light because i wasnt putting the hps light on it was just the regular soft white light bulb, but i guess it did do something. and yea its just trial and error this time around i didn't even use any any special seeds just some pretty good mid-grade stuff i had just to see if i could grow something. before i sunk a few hundred dollars into a big set up kinda like yours with a vent system. but i do think think i am going to go with ebb
n flow for my next project. if you couldnt tell i have my setup in my bath tub so i could just dump it in there and not have to worry about getting water all over the place. the one good thing about waiting to flower is the bigger the plants get the more buds you get, but being we have to lift them up to change the water ebb n flow would be easier
