This is sad

I started with 32 seedlings now I'm down to about 8. They are two weeks old from germ. I put in some nutes last week to about 200ppm. The ones that r still alive have yellow leaves and are still only working on their second set of leaves. What can I do!? I have a 1000w hps 24/7 and 450w of T5 6500k 24/7 on them. This is really shitty cuz I invested a lot of money into this and I don't think i'll get anything back. Please help...:?

Man, I usually wait at least 2-3 weeks before I give them any nutes. You said they don't even have the second set of leaves yet. If it were me I would flush and just water them until you at least get another set of leaves.

yeh true the seed shell feeds them till they have 4 leaves and the clover leaves but the survivors will be hardend my 1 plant is the last survivor of 10 seeds planted so you havent lost all buddy

and shouldn't that t5 be 'nuff? 1000w HPS might be too much and a waste at this juncture.

Marty the T5 is *plenty* for now. You'll be glad you have the HPS soon. Def sounds like your plants were overfed. Like Endoe said, they don't need nutes yet; they are too young to take it. What media are you growing in?

yeah seedling are very sensitive your 100 watter is probly whats killing them offplus with HPS you'll get long distances between nodes ( not a good thing) id turn you HPS off and use it for the flowering stage after your plants reach about 18" tall as for nutes you should only be feeding them like once a week and plan water between times when the top layer of siol starts to get dry keep it moist but not soggy

Hey thanks everyone for the advice. Here's the scoop, The survivors are doing good, I'm pretty sure I killed the others becuz I had two nights that went to about 98.0F Def the cause of death. Should I really turn off the 1000whps? I want them to grow fast becuz I wanted to put them into flowering next week. 3 weeks from seed and then flower. The survivors all have second leaves now and temps are good. I am growing aeroponics/aeroflo2. Ph 5.6 - ppm 200 - hum 40% What do you all think.

i have fed nutes to my seedlings and kept them under a 1000w of lights but i also created a humidity dome for them ( i used inverted clear plastic cups ) until they established their first real leaves. Note that i kept my light about 5 feet from them and used less than 200 PPM nutes (which consisted mostly of BioBizz rootjuice and G.H. FloraShield).

having said that - i will add that just because i was successful doesn't make this right or even desirable - i may have just lucked out.

btw - losing all your seedlings really stinks. i know hindsight is 20/20 but i would encourage everyone to test run their systems for 24-36 hours with NO plants and then the first time using a new system - use bag seeds to give yourself a chance to work out the bugs.

Going to keep my ppms at 200, I think the ones that have made it so far are doing good with it. But going to put both lights onto 18/6. What's the final vote on leaving the HPS. This is kind of a test run (but with good seeds...stupid.) So I want to flower asap so I can get my next started. Does the HPS help veg faster along with the T5's?

they won't die from low humidity as long as you're keeping the soil wet. my humidity is 19% constantly and mine sprouted just fine. unless by low you are talking 0-10% but i've never seen that anywhere. desert?
