Hey guys I'm new here and this is my first post. I have read all the stickys and done a lot of research before I started growing. (6 days ago was the transplant) I will start by telling you a little bit about my setup. I am in a 3.5'X3.5' room with a proper hood and 12 CFL's for Vegging (333 Watts/almost 23,000lumens) half are cool white and half are soft white. I have 6 23W Cool whites sitting over my two plants about 6" above them I had them at about 3-4" about and noticed the leaves turning a little yellow and they were clones from a friends plant. They were nice a green before. I'm use a soil medium of 1/3 peat moss,1/3 perlit and 1/3 vercimulite. They are still in small jiffy pots but i put them in slightly large pots still in the jiffy pots. Hope I'm being clear enough here. LOL My room is sitting at 74.2 degrees and I have a fan blowing on them. Do you think its Nitrogen difficant or where the lights just too close? I would really like to correct it soon as its very hard for me t get good clones and I hate to waste the firsts batch but I know I'm not going to get crazy yield or anything first shot but I would like to a least make them grow. LOL Thanks for all the help if I missed anything for you to help just ask. I've never really grew anything before. Also to mention I had the lights on a little erraticly at first I was always switching out types and intensity of lights (CFL's) for the first few days and they were on 24/7 now i'm on 18on 6 off for the next 6-7weeks i guess. also I will be using a 1000W frosted HPS for flowering, I know its big for 2 plants but was given to me.

P.S. I also sprayed them two or three times with a light consintration of "Boom" thinking it would be beneficial but stopped when I realized I have not a damn clue what I'm doing yet.

I will attach a pic soon. Thanks for any and all help guys and gals!

You dont need to raise your lights. If anything, drop them to within 1 inch of the plant tops. Your prob with your leaves may be down to over watering. Or nutrients. With Cfls you really need to be as close to the plant as possible. Hope that helps.

Well man I am not a dirt grower but I thought I would put my 2 cents worth in . I have a book that shows deficiencys in it I looked up Nitrogen def and it shows the hole leaf yellowing So that may be it . Do you use ro water or tap water ? I run a aero/nft system and I started using ro water and it gave me a calcium, magnesium, and iron def, ro water takes some of what we need to grow em healthy . Anyway I started using cal mag plus and it took care of my problems . I know you said that the temp was 74 or so plants like a little more heat than that 76 to 78 is good , and on the spraying part it might be ok to spray while lights out , but no good when the lights are on ! 18/6 for the next 6 to 7 weeks ? I know you and I grow differantly but I veg em long enough to sex them out , but I have never grown from clones either only seed , when I get this round ready to go to flower I will cut some clones . Hell yeah I would use a freebie 1000 watter also just watch the heat issue them big uns get hot ! I hope maybe some of this helps you , if not I gave it a shot . Oh yeah that book I have is Marijuana Garden saver , by J.C. Stitch, It a good book for trying to trouble shoot your problems with your babies ! Peace !

Thanks for the tips. I use tap water and let it sit to de-clorinate (2days) I certinly over watered but I didnt think it would turn them yellow... I did spray them when they where under the lights a few times. Is "BOOM" only for use with dust mites? or is it okay to use as a pervenitive mesure???

Oh and to mention they are only 6 days old so I have not yet used fertilizer... Should I feed them? But I dare not because I have kept the soil mosit for the past 6 days and now realize I should dry it out...

OH MY WHAT DO I DO???

An I never grew before. I think I will grow them until they are 3/4 of the height of my room and then force to flower. I am only assuming 6-7weeks maybe alot less or more???? oh well I dont even remember the strain I know is a big producer and a hardy strain from a very experienced grower is all.

Boom works on mites I think. I would recomened you to try neem oil first. It's organic. It basically stops insects from reaching sexual maturity so they can't reproduce. Usually after 2 or three applications insect problems are gone. It's more gentle and also acts as a foliar feed.

As for ferts, I would let the soil dry a bit. You don't want to induce something like root rot, that will kill them. Let them get to where the top inch of soil is dry before you water. I use pro-mix BX and just lift the containers to tell if they need water. Wet and dry is a huge difference. On your first feed start with a 1/4 strength solution (hydro use more nuts than soil - hydro would be a 1/2 strength), the next round use just water and allow for a 10% run off, then you can move to a 1/2 strength solution (equvilant to a full strength on hydro 1/2 strength is full strength to soil). Remember only feed nutes every other watering and always check your ph before you water. Aim for 6.0 ( I think 6.2 is optimal but 6.0 is good) and it's good to check your run off too.

Good luck

Here is a pic of the problem. The soil dried out at least the first inch+ of soil so i made a weak mix of 20-20-20 and watered them again today.

Okay so I got some things from a buddy. but he has no idea what to do with them... I got one bottle of "85% Ph Down" one bottle of "Ph7 Buffer" and one bottle Ph4 buffer. as well he lent me his Ph tester a "Sharp Ph40" I hit calabrate on it and dont know if I should have but my tap water comes up at 7.6. The tester also has a CFM button on it what is that for... I assume to test the soil I have to break it up in the water of do I have to just stuck the ph tester right in the soil? Ill post a pic of it below.
