So you're saying that in a hypothetical situation with no relevance to the fact that OP is a bitch for calling the police in his situation, you would call the police? In that case, in a hypothetical situation where I'm eating an ice cream cone in a public bathroom and I set it on the napkin on top of the urinal while I shake my dick, and in the 37 seconds it takes to shake my dick and stuff it back in my pants some minority child steals my ice creame cone, I would probably call the police on him.
sorry i added to my original post, maybe you didnt see that. If I felt that a person might have a gun and he is treatening me then yes I would call the police. I am a felon, I cannot own a gun and I have no way of defending myself against one. I have also learned from my mistakes and do not wish to go to prison because my pride won't let me ask for help from police in a hostile situation. Again, I do not take threats lightly and I do not underestimate the potential of other people to commit murder, that's the kind of situation where people get killed in the heat of the moment.

In your ypothetical situation, there is no threat to you. I would be more concerned that the kid might catch an STD from you.

Last time I had a gun pointed at me I told the guy he was being rude and unreasonable, and asked for time to pull my cell phone out and call the police. He obliged and the situation was amicably resolved.

Assuming this is an addendum to your original statement, and that it advocates to call the police on someone yourself, I disagree. There are enough people out there without ethics that will snitch on someone that I couldn't justify enduring a situation and then calling the police. However, in the rare event that my family is in immediate danger and while the threat is occurring I have the opportunity to get SWAT to resolve the situation, I could justify it. Anyone who disagrees has seen one too many BET movies.

Just because you walked away from the stuation doesn't mean that your never gonna see the person again. If you don't report it to the police, then the guys just going to get more brazen in the future. At least if they are contacted by police they may think twice about messing with you next time. If they still don't leave you alone, at least you know you tried to resolve the situation peacefully before you knocked his teeth in.

i don't watch bet, they have too many commercials.
and be a little more selfish in your decision making huh?
old lady gettin killed outside your house?... not your problem. that's what it sounds like you're saying.
there is a difference in snitching on a grow and snitching on some gun totin' wankster.
unless there is a victim involved, i would never say anything... two dudes gettin it on behind a movie theater? more power to ya, i just wish i hadn't seen.
asshole roughing up his girl? i probably woudn't mind seeing that guy in cuffs.
just because you might happen to be doing something criminal like selling or growing weed is no reason to not act civilized.
little hookers running around with guns in the neighborhood are almost subhumans, in my estimation.

Or they come after you with a vengeance because you snitched. As a general rule of thumb, strong arm criminals are pretty ignorant, and wont let something go because officer Joeblow said something to them. Maybe if your intent is to kill them later and claim self defense then you might want to get the police report filed, but that's a whole different ballgame and outside the scope of this thread.

Did the old lady already get killed? If so, I'd call a cleaning company to get her stains away from the exterior of my house. If not, what's the future murder weapon? Gun, I'm not getting involved, anything else and I intervene myself. Why bother calling the police so she can be dead with the perpetrator gone long before they get there?

apathy masked behind futility is still apathy, little buddy.

I didn't try to mask my indifference toward some random old lady that I've never seen, thought that was implicitly implied with the cleaning company statement. If I had the potential to do something about a situation (crush the guys head with Big Bertha, chase down a purse snatcher etc...) I would, but not because I care about the victim, but because it's the right thing to do. It could be the old lady who used to yell at me as a kid for cutting the corner on my bike and riding across her lawn, and I wouldn't have an issue putting myself in harms way to take her out of it, assuming the situation has some chance of success.

My point is exactly. They come after me again then I will have to assume that my life is in danger and will act appropriately. Bottom line is if you pull a gun on somebody in a conflict, you better fucking use it and if your the type who pulls a gun on people in an argument then your a fucking pussy and it's only a matter of time before you test the wrong person.

I will not sit idley by while thugs terrorize me. I have just as much right and responsibility to call the police in the event of a robbery or a assault as any business or non smoker does. I don't sympathize for people who are sitting in jail because they pulled out a gun and threatend an unarmed person, sorry.

I agree, I only pull out my 9 when someone check-raises me.

I've always lived in nice white neighborhoods, and haven't had this issue. However, I do feel that being a criminal yourself binds you to a code of ethics, and not snitching is part of that code.

I am not bound to any codes with murderers, rapists and terrorists. I grow pot I do not go around starting shit with innocent people. I don't snitch on people to save my own skin but if I am assaulted I am going to let police know. If my daughter wass touched by a pedophile, then I probably wouldn't follow my own advice but not because of any respect for the offender.

as someone invovled in marijuana, i don't consider myself a criminal but rather an opressed minority and so therefore the whole not snitching code goes out the window.
