Thoughts on living organic soil (no till) from buildasoil?

I've been scrolling the internet looking for the perfect Organic soil to use for my next cycle I was thinking of going with subcools recipe but it's a little pricey. I Came Upon a website called buildasoil.com and they have this no till living Organics soil recipe that you can plant right out of the bag no cooking or amending necessary. Has anybody used this soil and if so what are your results ? Is it a good soil to use I heard it's just water only kind of soil with little to no work involved such as pH reading and flushing etc. I don't really have the place and space to be amending my own soil as because i live in an apartment so I need something quick and convenient and this seems to be it. subcool, maybe skip him altogether,

Build a soil basically just stole Clackamass coots recipe but yea

its pretty darn good, id say, tis paramagnetic for one, mineralized, and gets the job done pretty well

I think we could make a better base going custom but I do like his stuff for general guidelines atm

if you're in America and looking for the perfect recipe, you better build it, but if looking for a near enough perfect recipe, then you're good

I would make your own if possible. It might be easier to buy some of the BaS stuff and get going now, but eventually you will need the stuff to re amend it anyway. I am kind of limited on space and have been buying ingredients and putting them in large stack-able totes. A large tote can hold 2 50 lb bags. 6 totes can hold a lot of ingredients. I mix stuff in small amounts at a time in a tote, then it gets moved to a 50 gal barrel to store till used. 2 stacks of totes and a barrel really isn't that much floor space. My tea bucket does just fine on top of totes. I use 4- 6 gal pots to grow in. If I used smaller pots to grow in I could use a smaller container to hold my soil. 24 gallons fits nicely in a barrel and allows it to get rolled/ stirred without much effort.

Agreed, one doesn't need that much room to get the job done, even a worm farm isn't large, and yes, one will need to reamend eventually so thats something to consider.
I like the barrel rolling idea, thanks for sharing that.

Yeah I'll probably do that later on down the line. But have you used the soil or have any opinions on the mix all together is my question?

As Tesla said, the guy from BAS essentially stole CC's soil mix. The BAS prices are atrocious and that doesn't even include the shipping! You can just follow the recipe for CC's soil and get all the amendments you need from Amazon at a way cheaper price with free 2 day shipping if you have Prime. All the minerals and meals are all available on Amazon, the only thing you may struggle to source is compost. I got my own worm bins going for it but it wasn't enough, so I had to supplement with Wiggle Worm. The stuff is mediocre at best, but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing!

This recipe is absolutely useless if you skimp on the compost part, get the highest quality compost and/or EWC that you can source. The CC mix is amazing because it's as close as you can get to replicating how things are done in nature, modern agriculture methods are an absolute joke. The results I'm getting from the CC mix blows everything I've done out of the water and I had decent results with Sub's mix, if you ask me and others on this forum (and others) CC's mix will always come out ahead.

I seen $17 a cubic foot on BAS.com i only need 10 gallons as because I'm only growing 2 plants in 2 5 gallon pots

Thanks a lot for the feedback and basically I want to build my own soil down the line but right now I just need to get something going and call me lazy but I want something that i can just use out of the bag and grow but is trusted thats why I'm asking. I know CC 's soil is great but it doesnt come ready to use outta the bag from what y'all are telling me i have to go out and find all these different amendments and mix them together wich I'm trying to avoid right now. So i need opinions on the soil which you guys gave me and im happy with that. I will follow all of these guidelines provided by you fellow Growers here on Roll It Up when I'm ready to really start mixing my own stuff. It's $17 a cubic foot i only need 10 gallons as because I'm only growing 2 plants in 2, 5 gallon pots in a small grow cab. That's a reasonable price for me and I'll just water with compost teas.

the guy from BaS and CC were both on ADS one day, working in conjunction, i didn't get the feeling the coots felt he was being stolen from lol. The thing with the BaS guy is he tracks the source of his stuff beyond just the usual reselling commodities model of most soil and amendment dealers

Thanks bud. Yeah i dont like the word stole either it just doesnt sound right. The guy at BAS soil seems to know what hes doing and has fellow growers saying good about the product in itself i just needed more updated opinions and just got people telling me to mix my own stuff wich is not a bad idea but not what i want to do right now

Sorry all, stole is a strong word, homie is right.. he actually had permission to promote it, I just meant he didnt tweak or come up with anything new really.. he kinda just yoinked something that existed out there is what I meant and marketed it..he gives credit to CC on his site. every country needs a BAS type service imo, so no disrespect for the ganja pioneers and activists, big up everyone creating platforms for growers to get their goodies

I must have missed something then? I only said that because when I was reading the organic thread on Grasscity started by MountainOrganics (I believe? I forget) CC himself would stop in the thread and constantly post. Any time people would bring up BAS he would get quite upset with them and even went as far as to say that he never gave Jeremy (BAS owner) permission to advertise his recipe. I read that entire thread (all 200+ pages :P) and noticed numerous replies from Coots where he expressed his distaste toward BAS and Jeremy. That's where I was coming from when I posted my response, perhaps they worked something out and Coots just never posted about it in the thread I read?

Forgive the post I made, I only did so because I saw at least a handful of posts by Coots where he seemed quite pissed any time someone brought up BAS. Coots even went as far as to tell a Grasscity member asking him a question about BAS products to "Ask Jeremy since you seem to like supporting him" or something along those lines. Wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers, this was just what I read from Coots himself is all.

I could make an attempt to find the posts I'm talking about, but it would take quite a bit of digging since the thread is over 200 pages long!

Edit: I actually found it by running a google search :P Again, not trying to incite anything, just trying to show that I'm not talking out of my ass is all.

Anytime my man! I'm glad it was so easy to find, I didn't want it to see like I was trying to bad mouth someone without cause or even incite anything.

I was just pointing out how CC felt about it was all, I don't really have any reason to have anything against the guy myself. It's a great soil mix and he's just making thing convenient by including everything all in one and does have access to some quality product but the shipping is just outrageous.

While you may only need 10 gallons of soil, it would be wise to purchase more than 10 gallons worth of amendments. You'll need to top dress it every 3-5 weeks depending on the strain and such, and try covering your top dress in EWC if you're able to. Then you're pretty much set :)

Hey man I did forget to mention that the shipping is outrageous the shipping cost what the soil does which doesn't make any sense but you know what I don't know if I have a choice I really need something right now and I need to get something going already. for this soil do you think I need to layer it or anything or should I just put my clone directly into the soil?

This particular soil (CCs mix) doesn't have anything in it that is "hot" like blood meal, guanos, etc. I've even burned with using too much alfalfa meal before. The mix is light, yet has everything you need in a soil. With all of that in mind, you can be just fine throwing a clone straight into this soil. It is recommended to keep the soil moist for a few days before actually planting, because this way you'll have microbiology going. Without proper moisture there is no life in the soil, which will just make it dirt. Be sure to get it moist before you plant for a couple of days so that your soil is alive and ready to form a bond with your plant. If you're able to, there's a product called Grower's Recharge that is essentially a bunch of microbes ready to go. Only need like 1tsp per gallon or something and it pretty much inoculates your soil for you, I highly recommend it.
