I'm absolutely sick of this country. The same ol' shit just isn't cuttin it anymore. I fear for the future of America and its citizens, which is why I want to immigrate to Canada. Just wondering if any Canadians want to put their insight on how they feel about American immigrants? Also how are the marijuana laws in different parts of Canada? How is it to live there? I plan on taking a two week vacation to Canada to see how I would like living there, what would be a good place to check out?

It's not even all about weed, I'm worried about my safety too. With all the secrets the US government keeps and all the enemies they make, I don't want to be here when the war comes to our soil. Also the healthcare problems we have here, along with the loss of jobs at an astounding rate, make it more and more tempting to try my luck in another country.

Canada is great!!!! If your a medi user and legal you wouldnt have to worry bout our laws....But if your not ...better at least have a clean criminal background as im sure we check for stuff like that as you americans check us....As for non medi user we had a new law pass automatic jail time if caught growing.....I still havent seen many go away for it unless your a commercial grower tho...Even then our justice system is nothing like yours....If one was to go to jail for growing and got sentence 3 years most likely you would be out in a year....I kno a guy that got caught running a 25k grow light system estimated @ a half a mill bust....and the guy is still out on bail and looking at no time....Illeagal search is the only thing that is keeping him out tho...

so let me under stand you right you want to bail out on you country "for some reason" and up and move to canada with out knowing any of there politics of if they even feel the same as you and are trying to come here, why even pic there, why not amsterdam or where ever, what the us is going threw is nothing new, check the history book we have survived worse, right,

alright well. im Canadian and i'll let you know whats going on over here in the north 
I love living here. its not perfect, but then no where is going to be perfect. Im in ontario, like it says up in the top right...its not bad here at all. we have to pay things like sales tax and we pay for our health care and things through our income tax, but you know...its a lot better to pay a little here and there than to have an emergency and have to pay for the entire thing out of your own pocket. our prescriptions arent covered. so you do have to pay full price for those unless you have some sort of a drug plan. some employers offer them, or you can buy your own. if you go onto our welfare program in my province they give you a drug card and your prescriptions are free. as for the drugs...cops are hit and miss i guess. i have a friend who was questioned by a cop on the street because he was wearing a t-shirt that said "plant manager" with a pot leaf on it...lol. but obviously they didnt find anything. another buddy of mine was caught with a half O on him, and all his rent money in cash. the cop didnt even know what to do. he didnt get in any sort of trouble at all. usually the cops make you put your bag of weed on the ground and stomp on it haha. i dont think they even take it from you...so you stomp on it and take it home to smoke it i guess...lol. i've walked down a main street downtown on a busy sat. night smoking a joint and no one cared...its a bit more laid back here. and as for americans coming over to canada...i think you'll be fine lol. people here are just really good friendly folk who dont mind helping someone out. a friend of mine is from the US, she's here for school, she seems to like it! i guess our prime minister is a bit of a dork, and i know our politics arent perfect, but i dont think that its quite as bad as across the boarder. you wanna know something funny? sarah palin was supposed to be a speaker or participant in some charity thing a couple hours away from where i live...and the people here caused a big fuss...made it very clear that they did not like her, and did not want her involved haha. so she was taken off that event and then was a participant in something else...i think that if canada doesnt like sarah palin then we're probably doing ok! hahahahahahahaah

I still need to get a passport and all that but it's something I'm definitely working on. How is the job situation up there? Will your government find me a job or will I have to find one on my own? Are there jobs readily available? I can't help but ask questions, sorry !This is where human ignorance truly shines. Nothing would have ever happened on this entire planet if humans had not emigrated to better locations. If I don't like the way it's being run, I'm not going to WASTE my energy and join an inefficient system. I'm going to go and UTILIZE my energy to contribute to a more efficient system. I'm not looking to leech of Canada or run from America because of the president. I'm looking to start a better foundation in a new land, with new experiences, for the family I hope to one day raise in a better land. I WILL take my bloodline elsewhere, because it is my choice. I don't want my kids growing up in a country that puts politics and money above education and intelligence.

you know, our unemployment rates arent fantastic, but i think that during a recession thats to be expected. there are still jobs available. theres also a lot of different customer service type things that you can do. call centres are everywhere...and they dont pay too bad. not great, but not too bad. i worked in a call centre and i was getting $11 an hour. it was better than minimum lol. and our minimum is getting increased again soon i think...our gov wants it to be around $10 an hour. out west in alberta you can get paid better, but the cost of living is higher so i think that it would pretty well even itself out. theres a lot of job agencies that you could get in contact with and they're usually pretty good at helping people find work. and im sure you could collect social assistance until you find work. theres a lot of services available for people looking for work...you'd be able to get some help with that.

i dont blame you. i love canada, and im a proud canadian, but if the gov decided to start acting like the american gov i'd be out of here. i can understand being patriotic and believing in your country etc...but i wouldnt stick around in a really bad situation, sacrificing my own wellbeing and happiness simply to avoid selling out my country. a lot of patriotic americans will look rather silly if america crashes and burns and they're still screaming that they're proud americans while losing everything they have... i'd rather swallow my pride and move on to better things to be perfectly honest...my pride is not more important than my wellbeing
