Thrips Citric Acid

Gotcha. I have sprayed them the last few days so I’ll take a small break then. I’ve been spraying top and bottom, and even rubbing the leaves with the solution, taking off the thrips by hand. So, it’s okay to spray directly on the buds as well? I’m spraying with dimmed lights just before lights out.
Well, spraying just the leaves and stems, would cause the thrips to move onto the buds, making it harder to break the cycle. It will make the pistils brown, but imo, I'd rather deal with browned pistils, than possible loss of quantity, and quality. That just my opinion though. Do what you feel is right for you and your grow.

Well I’ve been spraying the buds cause of the fear that they were in there, so I’ll keep doing it then!

Happy thanksgiving everyone. I’m still battling these thrips, and some orange bugs that I believe to be aphids appeared this week as well. It’s been rough, but I’m spraying regularly with citric acid right before lights out, outside their tents so the combination of lights/ca doesn’t burn the leaves. I still see a few minute pirate bugs and lady bugs in the tents, as well as a lot of hypoaspus mites on the soil from the earthworm castings. I cover the top layer of soil with towels/plastic bags so that the spray doesn’t get in there. I think the citric acid may have done some damage in the beginning as I was spraying with lights on.

Just a little update. Plants got sprayed with 5tsp citric acid per 56oz of water for three days in a row. The thrips are still around but numbers have decreased significantly. The pirate bugs have appeared on top of the leaves this morning. I’m not noticing much growth in the buds and I guess that must be cause of the leaf damage. I have lost a LOT of leaves on these plants.

Next time use the Capt Jacks Dead Bug Brew for the thrips when you are in veg. It straight up kills them in a few hours. I spray every week in veg now and 1 time a week for the first 2 weeks in flower. You will not have a problem like that again.

Thank you. I’ll check out that cpt jacks. Gonna clean up real good after this run. Thankfully these aren’t my only plants in flower at the moment
