i have tons of links if u ever need more.lol
don't be sorry at all man, your post was well thought out and well written. I welcome it anytime!!!!!!! and yea, it's the V2 2011 GLH models that are super intense. Some wicked technology, I am kinda freaked out that the intensity on those (2011 v2 is that right?) being too much! Is that even possible? That seems to infer that the spectral intensity is surpassing the sun on those panels?! Or a part of the spectrum is wonky, perhaps it is only part of the spectrum that is erroneous and causing the problem? Sounds like the tech is dialing in either way. I think I want to make a switch too, I was thinking of upgrading my lights this spring, maybe it's time to move toward the future.
I mean I been seeing Irish Boy killing it all over the web for some time now and it's hot like hell where I am also. I do have to wonder why your ambient temps in your house are so high Irish? Or rather what is the ambient temp that your working with to make it so hot in there? The panels raise your ambient by how much?! So it seems that there are tons of crappy panels out there, your GLH seem to be spunky! The other one that I have been looking at is Hydro Gro Led Penetrator panels. Which I technically have been watching for a while now along with the Apache Tech panel. The core seems to be the 120-180 size to replace instead of augment. By my comparison they all have arrived a 3 watt diode and only power them roughly 1/2 - 2/3 of the way, between them they us a 12 - 7 - 9 band spectrum respectively, and all three have independent verified success as directly comparable to the hid standard. Really as long as they are comparable and cooler the next logical influence being price. GLH is the cheapest one, I have priced out the actual components to make these panels assuming that I do the labor for free I could build one of these panels for about $150 - $250 in parts with variability based on composition choices like cree mounts and such. So who is being cool about all this is how I look at it. If your charging more than double your making excess profit imho, many are basing their cost on how much you would save in light bulbs (I know it sounds silly but thats the closest I can get to their figures is by using that as the multiplier in the products expected lifecycle.
That being said the HGL ($899) panel is almost double the GLH ($499) panel for price on their new X line which is very similar to the spectra panel as far as I can tell and both of these are doing what Apache Tech ($999) has been doing.
At first with out research I thought you guys were using the hydro gro leds, you know the penetrators. So many people are using the blackstars around but they are so cheap! It was too much to want to delve into but temps are shite! So long drawn out diarrhea story short, seems like your light supplier takes care of you and doesn't leave you hanging which is valuable as anything else when your talking about dropping g's. lol Thanks for doing so much advanced research ahead of the curve. It seems that giving Irish some panels to play with was a good investment on behalf of that guy at GLH!
Damn.... sorry to drop a load on your thread dude!
haha well the first thing ya gotta give up is growing, cuz you won't have enough time for it. also, forget about seeing your friends and family. now get ready to sit around for hours at a time in airports and hotels and prepare yourself for some nasty food!!Teach me how to make money in China!!!! √√√
yea yea!!!!! some good plays on today!!!! I have been watching the redzone channel. how about that rain in Carolina!! looks like it's drying up now a little....FOOTBALL
So far another great week!

Depends....can I make enough to come back and start a business within a couple of years?......Hands on College √√ Lolhaha well the first thing ya gotta give up is growing, cuz you won't have enough time for it. also, forget about seeing your friends and family. now get ready to sit around for hours at a time in airports and hotels and prepare yourself for some nasty food!!
did I change your mind yet?
my temps are hot because its 110F over here in the summer and in my grow room i can not run A/C. my room is not attached to my house. Some wicked technology, I am kinda freaked out that the intensity on those (2011 v2 is that right?) being too much! That's what i did. well i spent a lot more than 2 years. I was in the semiconductor field, specializing in wet processing and robotics. after i worked on just about every tool in a cleanroom, i started doing a lot of consultant work, that is where the money is at!!!!Depends....can I make enough to come back and start a business within a couple of years?......Hands on College √√ Lol
This is a very good post and i will make sure cowboy check it out!!my temps are hot because its 110F over here in the summer and in my grow room i can not run A/C. my room is not attached to my house.
ya its funny i was just talking to a friend and saying how i remember the past where their were 1w leds that you had to keep 6" from the plants to get good results and they were not even good, and the company's made crazy claims like 90w will replace a 400w HPS.lol.. now theirs a leds out that will burn ur plants if not hung high enough. great leds for commercial growers IMO because of the huge foot print. but GLH had to change things to make them more friendly to all growers.
i would stay 100% away from cammie and her penetration, that is not a good person to do business with like many others found out. i used those lights when they 1st came out and it was all BS. she has always threaten to rat out growers and forums. Google her name and you will see.
Black star i think grows great quality meds, but i think yeild is low and i really dont like their scam sales tatics making growers thinking their getting a good deal a calling their lights a 240w when its really a 130w light.
ive never seen the Apache Tech panel on a grow but it looks sweet.
at the end if ur good at DIY and know the right NM to use that will be ur best bet. ive seen other make their own and get great results. you just have to know what ur doing because u can also waste money real easy.
Thanks NF!!!!!! it's been a great bday so far!! one of my new beans it starting to crack open already!!!! not even 24hrs yet!!!! only 2 of 4 were sinkers, but it's still early!!Hell yea! That sounds like an interesting grow That koolbloom is pretty good stuff imo bro. Maybe ull get a bday bud blowup cause of It. Have a great bday bro!
If it's anyone that know about heat, it's Irish!!!!It is a good post and I was out the door after I read it so I didn't get to respond a thanks.
Hey Irishboy, thanks for the info dude. I would hate to go and get penetrated and have no recourse!
I had only done research and I figured that I would do much more before I dropped a dime. I had seen your posts before like at 420mag, grasscity, and thcfarmer so it wasn't a stretch to wonder if there was led tech that worked equitably. TBH I checked out when flames started about panels and paid advert.... etc. all that blather turns to mush in my brain so I don't even read it lol
I think ultimately I will purchase a panel opposed to building one because if for some reason I change my mind about configuration, footprint, etc. I can resell to upgrade with a lot less work. I am a jack of many trades but I have learned to bite off what you can chew and I often have a mouthful. ha ha ha
I was kind of recognizing that these GLH panels appear to be the choice and for the price I would have gone with the Apache Tech otherwise probably. I am sure when reviewing product satisfaction those penetrators would have shown up as a no go but thanks for sparing me once again! I am interested because of the heat really, just like you in that sense. Upgrading HID means upgrading my cooling too in which case I was starting to try and figure out what kind of madness I would have to undertake to elaborate my system. lol
Not to mention that this was hinged on air conditioning which pretty much was like $$$$$, since they raised our rates and put an overage multiplier this year on the KWs. Man they are fucking me bad this year! We aren't on a coopted system and there is no competition so we just have to take what they give. !@#$%^&^%$#@
Again thanks for your response and just doing what you been doing. In the end it looks like I will gain what I need and maybe even save a bit since now my primary is a 430 (actual not just the bulb) and about 300 w of supp in 70w hps and 53w cfl danglers. But I think with more efficient coverage I won't have to always be rotating the girls for time under the best one either. I am thinking of exactly what your set up is currently 3 180s in a line for a 4 x 3. I have enough head room for the stronger ones though I think in which case they will no longer be available when I am ready for the upgrade correct?! A day late and a dollar short, lol story of my life!
Oh man, the fairy was nice eh!
that's badass ones already cracking!!! The grow emergency kit, that was CLASSIC lol. I too would like to kno if dark temps being higher has an effect on em as I'm having the same deal. Thanks NF!!!!!! it's been a great bday so far!! one of my new beans it starting to crack open already!!!! not even 24hrs yet!!!! only 2 of 4 were sinkers, but it's still early!!
If it's anyone that know about heat, it's Irish!!!!
and yea the fairy was pretty damn good to me!! nutes and beans, just add soil and water and it could be a travel emergency grow kit!!! hahaha
Cowboy, I wanted to ask your advice on something... what do you feel about dark times being hotter than lights on time, does this stall flowering?
I like that answer. I would hit the like button but my phone doesn't have 1. I can hand ya rep tho!Like so much it is strain dependent to some degree. It seems that warm temp stretch generally occurs during warm darkness. That has to be qualified with what kind of temps your talking about. These things aren't often that hard and fast, the rule of thumb is 78 f +/- 20-25 deg f tolerance. The plant seems to be most happy near the 78 f and the farther deviated day/night equates to mild environmental stress irrespective of day/night orientation. I assume your running lights at night for the cooler ambient?! Works fine, no problem!
**my 2 cents

It must just be the temps then, I am asking on behalf of Irish. he said his lights out temps are higher than his lights on. I thought maybe this would make them not flower at all. but it must just be his 100F+!!Like so much it is strain dependent to some degree. I shut my dehumidifier down a week or so ago. it's about 65% right now... that's low enough for me, it will drop very soon with the nights getting cooler. But cowboy, Cervantes says ahahahaha,,,,,kidding ; !)
I have always heard and sounds good to me is a 15f degree drop in temps during lights out is ideal. I have to run my dehumidifier at night too during lights out these days and it keeps the flower room hotter than I would like. That shoudn't last too much longer though.
Yea, I have seen them sweat already. when a leaf is on top of another and you move it, there is a wet spot on the bottom leaf. I know Irish is using the silicate, he said it has been working great!!! he also said he noticed some hair today, so maybe they are kicking into flower.Oh yea, I would definitely try to keep them +/- 15f
Just because they tolerate it and don't die doesn't mean they don't stress especially when those temps are sustained. Depending on the humidity in the ambient air he could throw an evaporative cooler in and drop it maybe 10-15 degrees and raise the humidity some as this increases heat tolerance also. Silicate supplement helps with heat tolerance also if he isn't already using something like that.
** also more air, can't have too much air below and above the canopy for natural transpiration. I don't know if you have ever seen this but the leaves will actually sweat.
So i have been thinking about some stuff i would really like to get everyone's opinions on?
so its been a few times the heat has messed with my girls and made then not flower. i was thinking maybe it could be this? my lights are off during the day time and on at night when its cooler of course.. well i was starting to think maybe that is whats causing the issues with delay on flowering? ive always read the dark time temps needs to be 10-15F less then lights on, and with having my lights off during the hottest part of the day is doing the oppsit. my lights off is hotter then my lights on. so i am wondering if i start running my lights on during the day and having the dark time during the night would fix the flower issue since the temps would be able to drop more with lights off? i understand its going to be allot hotter now during the day but so far ive been able to keep the girls healthy and think i might be able to get threw that?
do our plants really need -10F or so cooler at their dark time?
i would love to here everyone's opinion on this please? am i on to something?
sweeeeetttt!!!!!i haven't had my panels replaced yet but the one that was broken was able to be temporarily fixed. All the fan mounts are busted in half, but i snapped it back into place and it only falls out of place when it is tilted. Also there was a loose connection on a connector that may have vibrated out of place during shipment. So with the help of a couple very kind glh specialists, i now have another 100w to shine down on my girls!!!! Shouldn't be long till i have the new ones!! I can't believe i didn't do this before!!!
