Oh, please dont stop protecting yourself with whatever means you may be because of my post. As an IT professional I know a little about technology, and a little more than most. I just wanted to share my .02 on it. Your methods of protection may be protecting you from other stuff as well. Be safe people.

some smart phones tag their photos with GPS information. So you can take the photo and read the information within it and determine GPS coordinatees. Dont take pics with phone!

I always disable my GPS, so whenever I take a picture the geotag always reads as a city a few hundred miles away from me.

another option is to use a picture editing program like photofiltre (free) that lets you remove "exif/iptc" data from the file.

I'm not a paranoid guy, i just like that little extra sense of security...

I completely understand, i thought about it a few times actually..haha

hey millyy thanks for the link i m at the site now and it says "Unless you choose to sign into a certain site," arent we signed into this site? so it will not hide you right? i dont know anything about it. thanks for info

Basically it hides you're IP address and switched it to something different while it's on. So for example if you go to www.ipchicken.com that is you're real ip, now once you turn on hotspot shield it will be completely different.

It shouldn't matter whether you are signed into a site or not, it will hide it anyway. Hope i helped, ask if you need anything

edit: I also agree with gumbal, unless you used the ip masking/hiding program BEFORE you registered on the site (WHEN YOU REGISTERD) then they can probably find some type of log retaining you're real IP. I doubt this forum keeps you're ips...for security reasons of course. I have owned 2 or 3 websites before and i know they didn't.
Better to be safe than sorry though!

Thats another thing, I have an iphone and they have the little thing where it shows you a map of where you took the picture haha...Wouldn't be such a good idea. I read a sticky on some site (might have been this one) that tells you not to use you're phone.

will you be using the t5's for your seedlings?
The plan so far is to start up a DWC system in my current tent for 6-8 plants at a time. I'll use a T5 for seedlings/clones in a separate room and basically start off with one plant in the tent I have now. Then, every week I'll just pop a clone/seedling into the flower tent. The first plant in will be finished in about 8 weeks and a new one will take it's place. By the time I harvest my third plant I'll be smoking my first one while I do it.

never have had the pleasure of trying any maybe one day I will order some seeds!!
they are well worth the grow.... i hope i never lose the strain!!!

just dropped in to say I use real hide IP with great results, and anyone on here who grows whether it be for medical use like myself or not should block their IP as even I who am not that much of a techie could ping anyone here get their IP and use the internet to get the approximate latitude and longitude of that signal... be safe hide your IP
yea, i think i will continue to use it... not so much for big brother but for nosy thieves.

stoney, loved the video bro. if you get a loupe, you can even make a video mvhv (vmvhv)! and good info guys on the i.p. address programs. worth spreading the word. damn prohibition...
I had a loupe given to me by a friend and when i got my microscope i gave it back to him.... looks like i gotta get a new one!!!

Everything looks great stoney. I get a little behind and WOW, several pages.

On the IP program, those sound real cool. But law enforcement would look up who the IP is registered too. They would then go to that carrier and get all records pertaining to that IP and it's location. Unfortunately, I don think these IP hiding programs will work well because of this. But law enforcement would have to first be able to aquire a warrant which requires probably cause, right :???:, from the photos and info we post here. I think that may be the difficult task. It is my opinion if they wanted us based off our online behavior, they could come and get us based off our online behavior. I just dont think it is enough to warrant them risking their career withoout something more concrete.

Just my .02, there is nothing wrong with what y'all are doing, and I could be wrong, wont be the first time

Have a great day people!!
I know what ya mean about getting behind... i was gone one day and man, I'll be here all night reading!!

I appreciate the info on the IP thing... i see there are more posts below about it but i feel pretty safe since my local po po doesn't really have any reason at all to look my way... plus with all the cuts they recently made there is no way they can afford to have somebody sit there and look through hundreds of forums and thousands of posts just to find something on me to try to get a warrant. lets just hope i can try to deter any other kind of problems by hiding my IP

little fish in a very large sea. fuck em lol
I am going with the same idea... but i will try to keep myself a very tiny fish!!

I use photobucket to make the pics look like that.... I upload them strait from my hard drive to photobucket then i insert the copied address to RIU.

nooooooope
I know man.... i keep trying to hit you up also... soon enough!!

I always disable my GPS, so whenever I take a picture the geotag always reads as a city a few hundred miles away from me.
is this done with a setting? i just got a smart phone today and i'm interested in this GPS bullshit. how do you turn yours off?

I have an Iphone and i just switched it to airplane mode then took a pic..i checked the album thing (gps) that shows where pics were taken and it doesn't show up. So maybe, if you delete the picture before turning the airplane mode back OFF you might be Okay.
I think you're fine though either way.

If you have an android phone it should be under location settings. Not sure about other phones, but I know that the phone sends no signals whatsoever in airplane mode, so it would probably tag it as unknown or possibly the last place the phone's GPS was tagged.

this is good to know, i will probably continue to use my camera. but i just got a smart phone and may want to use it sometimes.

There should be a power control widget that comes installed with a button to turn GPS on/off. You might have to download Open Home (not sure if the widget is exclusive to that app since it's all I've used since I had my first Android phone), but turning GPS off is easy in Android. You can even check the geotag under the picture info if you're not sure if it's working.
