tiiiight budget growing

i'm a newbie when it comes to indoor cultivation. i have a 2'x6'x8' closet that i'd like to grow a couple of plants in. i'm put off by the initial investment required for a HID setup...

i'm thinking a few fluorescent fixtures, maybe with grow bulbs, high gloss white paint (maybe mirrors?) on the walls, a few fans and a shoddy but effective ventilation system. keeping costs down is a HUGE concern right now. i cant afford HPS/MH setups, CO2 etc...

is it even worth giving a shot? my buddy has a package of 10 caramelicious seeds from amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com that i can pick up for 1/2 price. the pictures of the strain on the site look incredible. obviously i don't expect my yeild to look anything like that... but will i have something decent in the end? i'm also worried about the 2' depth of the closet...

White paint will be much better than mirrors. Mirrors don't work. And yeah, it's worth it. Check out some of the CFL grows on this site.

everyone needs a starting point

i had a similar situation when i started and ended up with a pretty good yield but even better the things i learned along the way (mostly because i played it cheap for the first few months) are some of the most valuable principles ive internalized

oh yeah and i still veg with 4 cfls they are the 150w equiv . . . you can get them at walmart or lowes for about 8 bucks
