should i not use 95% and wait till i can get some 99.9% alch to clean my cobs? i heard the lower percentage alch% are potentially mixed with something that leaves blemishes.

An update from one of the newer Timber family members ... Two 2VL's each with 3000K COB's (for dedicated flowering) ordered early June and (hopefully) on their way soon. And I have a little job for them when they arrive:

Def will update as things progress
I decided to take my Fatty up a notch for the flowering phase. I purchased one of these Solacure UVA/B kits to attach to my fixture.

Kit: Two Flower Power bulbs + 2 fixtures (4 ft) + Timer (solacure.com)

Don't get me wrong, I'm very satisfied with the results from the Fatty. However, I just wanted to see if it could be even better with added true UVA/B designed for bud. I'm in early veg on this photo period grow and won't be using this until several weeks from now when it goes into flower.

The kit was easy to attach with zip ties. I'm hoping for added potency and frostier bag appeal.View attachment 4847998View attachment 4847996View attachment 4847997
Okay, so the results are in from this experiment.

Conclusion - At least for me, the results were mixed at best. The UV did not seem to make an appreciable difference in THC production and seemed to provide a slight enhancement to taste and smell. The overall yield did not seem to be impacted either.

The two strains I grew were Bruce Banner and Fruity Chronic Juice. According to various breeders the THC potential is as follows:
Bruce Banner 18 to 28%
Fruity Chronic 15 t0 22%

Test results were:

The results for the Bruce Banner were surprising. I've smoked both of these. The Bruce Banner definitely seems to make me feel higher than the Fruity Chronic even though there seems to be much more THC in the Fruity CJ.

It was a worthwhile experiment for my own curiosity. I'm going to give it another try with different strains. If those results are similar I will discontinue use.

I would say it's worth experimenting with UV if you're interested. Your results may differ. This was by no means a scientific experiment.

There are here ...

2 of their 2 VL's both with 3000K COB for dedicated flowering. I plugged them in and turned the potentiometer to the lowest setting and still did what we shouldn't do. The eyesight was pretty normal again about 4 hours later.

I am preaching to the choir I'm sure - but Dan, you and the gang @ Timber totally rock! Appreciate your patience and your assistance in getting these rigs out during difficult times. And it was some interesting entertainment watching the route they took using the USPS tracking site.

I have only had them over the ladies in bloom for less than 48 hours so they are doing a little adjustment to the new light. But they are just starting Week 5 of flower so the new VL's get to handle the fun part.

Trust me you will not get ripped off, and it will be worth the wait. Things are still fucked up in the world, hell I've been waiting a month or so for the dealership to get a pair of shocks in for the back of my car. I know its frustrating, but you will get your fixture.

@rawnature - A friend of mine does trim carpentry and he has been doing more thumb twiddling than installing baseboards lately. Plumbers were having difficulty getting water supply lines to plumb new homes. No plumbing meant no drywall and he can't trim without the walls being in place. This pandemic has impacted a lot of folks.

Those VL's took nearly 8 weeks to arrive from the time of the order and my order was not modified. Like @Flatrate said - Timber is not going to rip you off.

Hello @rawnature

I saw your post and wanted to assure you that everything in our power is being done to complete and ship your order.

As others in this thread mentioned, supply chains are still greatly impacted due to COVID. On top of raw material shortages, there have been price increases too. Worst however are the impacts on shipping - there are daily weight limits on the amount of goods that can be shipped, international air pallet shipments are all but inaccessible and there are much longer lead times for both air and ocean freight. Customs, as you can imagine, are also greatly impacted and there have been numerous delays as a result. We are *just* beginning to see some alleviation on raw material shortages, and have been bringing all components that are not available domestically in by air freight which is very costly and not as fast as normal.

On a personal note, my family and I have also encountered abnormally long lead times on almost all our consumer goods orders.

I understand your frustration, as well as others, and please know that we are in daily contact with all of our vendors to ensure that we receive the parts necessary to complete our orders. We want nothing more than to have your lights to you so that you can put them into use.

A special thank you to my co-workers who have been working overtime in order to make sure that we can ship as much product as possible as quickly as possible. They are the true heroes in this story.

My goal, albeit a lofty goal, is to be back to 3-5 day lead times by the end of August. We are doing our best to try and meet this goal. In the meantime, if you email me direct at dan@timbergrowlights.com, I'd be happy to give you a status update on your order and any additional information you and your family need to plan accordingly.

Thank you again for all your support - it's been a rough go of things, but we wouldn't be here without you.

Take care,
Dan

@beercan ,

We used to build a series of lights using the original QB288 boards. HLG is a good company and Amit and Stephen are good guys. Can’t go wrong with either HLG or Timber both are solid choices in my biased opinion. Both are also quite different. Curious for others to chime in with their opinions and experiences as well.

Merry Christmas
Dan
In my personal experience, they are both great companies to do business with and both have awesome customer service. I've got 800 watts of cobs I bought from timber almost 6 years ago. They're still kicking ass. I've got 2 100 watt quantum boards in my veg tent. I've had situations with both companies I needed to reach out to customer service. As I said both companies have awesome customer service. All in all, they are the only led companies I generally recommend
