Time For An Upgrade - LED

Hey everyone,

Old school grower here. Always used MH and HPS for my growing but I am tired of the heat and the power bill. Friend of mine has some 1200$ LED system, not sure what it is.

I am handy with electronics and kind of want to do this myself.. If anyone could point me in the right direction of some DIY's of some proven LED systems that work I would appreciate it.

Also, how is the yield on these vs MH/HPS? Thanks

There are a bunch of DIY led cob threads on here, many on the first page. There is also a build thread on the do it yourself sub forum. Do not go for the cheap eBay models if you have the skills required for DIY. I'm sure if you have looked since you posted you have already read 2-3 of the really great builds, so just keep reading!bongsmilie

Or does anyone have any experience with these 400w panels?

Something along those lines, chinese im sure but do they work?
Hi holistah, these are exactly what you want to stay away from. Have a read through the LED Cree DIY builds, you mentioned you'd like to build them, that's probably your best option unless you're willing to spend about $3/watt for the commercial panels that can deliver like A51, Apache, Onyx, the DIY's with Cree COB's and these can and will produce well, everything else out there is questionable and if you go the cheap Chinese route you'll be disappointed.
