It's funny. In my insomnia the other night I started to think about space-time, and the fact that we can't travel faster than light. And then I was thinking about how everything has it's own frequency, and in the infinity of space there must be an infinite frequency range. Meaning that there must be frequencies higher and faster than light. And if there are such frequencies then they would undoubtedly exist outside of space-time, not bound by time like our measurable universe has been. Light, and the speed thereof, seems to be the clock of the universe, and if we can get past it we would could jump to another dimension where all things would exist at once.

You're close, but a little technical talk here now =) To move the speed of light you need to have infinite energy. Infinite means you probably cant do it. Tachyons can travel faster than light, but that's really not that important, but technically accurate. However, if you are referring to traveling faster than the speed of light, then why not just find a way to get from A to B faster than light could get there. A traversable wormhole achieves this by distorting spacetime around it and getting to a distant object. If we can "warp" to the sun instantly from Earth, we would appear on the Sun 5 seconds before you actually left to everyone on Earth.

Alternatively, you can travel at any speed really really close to an infinitely long cosmic string and travel forward in time. But then we're talking about quantum electrodynamics and that's a lot harder to type here without getting math heavy =)

yes that what I ment. stoping light all together, with absolute zero. what would happen? watched a nova about absolute zero recently and have been pondering on this for awhile. seems that time would stop simply by acheiving absolute zero

If the M-Theory proves correct, then we live in a multiverse, where we are one universe in an infinity of universes with each of those universes having their infinities and etc.............. If we consider our universe to be "in a bubble", then the multiverse theory would make us a bubble in a pot of boiling water. Other dimensions sadly are either so large we couldnt detect them (as in many times larger than our visible universe) or so small that they dont really matter. Right now we think that 4 dimensions are spacetime and that there's around 5 or 6 other dimensions wrapped up so small down to such a small size we cant really use them. We can detect that they are there based on how things work on a quantum level....... We just cant prove it yet.

Infinite energy, maybe. That may be found in due time. And maybe bending space-time is a way around that. Creating a wormhole. If you think about it, though, when you do this you are taking two points and making them exist in the same point in space-time. Maybe by doing this we would actually be jumping out of this dimension of light. Obviously I'm not as well versed in these matters as you. Like I had pointed out before, they were just insomniatic ravings. Don't take me too literal, just trying to get a basic point across.

Infinite energy would be improbable to ever be able to harness as a human being. That's because e=mc2. We can work towards traveling at near the speed of light, though, and traveling at the near speed of light is pretty darn fast.

A wormhole wouldnt make a point that existed in two places at once, it would bridge two areas. Kinda like a bridge in the middle of NYC just connects two points but isnt really in either place.

Okay, so it doesn't bring two points in space together, it just makes the trip shorter. I was envisioning the analogy of the piece of paper bent in half to bring two points together.

Energy is infinite. Also infinitely changing. The way I see it, that's where the challenge lies. Humans being able to harness a source for infinite energy may not be possible, but to dream of such things is an important piece of the puzzle. As in the theories within quantum physics that states the existence of anything relies upon the observation of it. At the same time, I don't think they were exclusively implying the observation coming from humans, but the observation of other particles. If there were only one particle in all of existence, it wouldn't exist.

Anyway, like I was suggesting earlier, maybe we are bound to this dimension by light and the speed thereof. If a thing were to exist outside of this, it wouldn't be limited by the sames rules we are. It may not be possible for us physically to do such things as dimensional travel, but I don't think that makes it impossible for any other "thing" to be able to do so.

And if we did exceed the speed of light and jump dimensions, could we come back intact?

You should check out some of the ways they are trying to reach absolute zero. It's quite fascinating. Electromagnetic fields and colliding particles. Cool stuff.
