Time to buy the equipment. Pls check my list

Ok so it's time to start buying my equipment bits at a time making sure I have most of it before I start,

Here's my list so far

So let's start with..

Grow tent 1.2x1.2x2.0
Light.. Hps 400w? Both bulbs veg and flower
Pots small and large
Drip tray for pots to stand in
Carbon filter & extraction fan
Digital thermometer
Nutes
Soil
Electronic timer
PH & EC meter's

Ok so here's my few Q's..

Is the tent mentioned a decent size for 4/5 plants max
Is the 400w enough for that tent with 4/5 plants ?
Will I have any temperature problems with a hps..
Hps rather than cfl?
Is a fan essential in the tent for blowing the plants.. I would say it is but a mate says otherwise and doesn't use one in his :/

Ok so my list can be changed if any1 thinks I would be better off with somthing else, any comments are welcome

Thanks :peace:

hi lat list looks good! i would change the 400 light for a 600 the tent is 4 x 4 foot so the 600 is perfect, also i would invest in a cool shade/tube it will save you loads of time and head aches with the temps. also you defintly want a fan inside your tent to circulate the air inside also keeps the tops of the plants cool

I can't comment officially on the size of the tent, but it'll probably be big enough for 4 plants.
400 watt is good, but I think you'll have better results with a 600 watt system. The price different is so small you might as well get it.
You have a fan so you shouldn't have any problems. It'll be a matter of adjusting the height of the light.
HPS is better than CFL.
I grew Big Bud X Skunk #1, had a fan on them and by the end of the grow most of the colas pretty much fell over still. If I didn't have a fan they probably would have snapped under the weight.

I use two 600's in a tent twice that size and would recommend a 600 watter. I also massively recommend an air cooled hood but way before that you are missing two very essential bits of kit.....

PH meter ( A decent digital one)
EC meter (I recommend the bluelab truncheon)

If you get a digi ballast you can normally run a metal halide in it for veg as well :)

In that size tent I know someone who has a wilma big 8. I personally run 9 10-15 litre pots on each side (one side = your tent in the budbox xxl) normally (currently only 3 on each due to a lack of cuttings)

And yes the fans are essential bits of kit for internal circulation.

Make sure your outake is stronger than your intake creating a negative pressure inside the tent to keep the smell sealed up.

Hope that helps,

Any questions just ask

Thanks for the reply's

so I'm changing the 400 to. 600w + maybe a cool tube

how does the 600w effect my electricity bill?
Not fussed about how much.. I would just like to know :-)

Another Q about my friend actually, he has his cfl about 8" from his 4 4week old babies a few leafs look slighty burnt/yellow patched in places.. He says it would be fine once he chops the odd ones off, I said it may be because his leafs are getting too hot under the cfl without a fan blowing on them and he didn't listen..

Thanks again

1x 1.2mx1.2mx2m tent
1x 6" rvk fan
1x 1m square drip tray
9x 5.5l square pots
1x bag canna coco pro plus
1x 1l coco a+b nutes
1x 5m 6" ducting
1x 6" rhino filter
1x 600w digi ballast
1x 6" cool tube
4x xl jubilee clips
1x 125ml atami bloombastic
1x 0.5l ph down
1x 100ml syringe
1x 3ml pipette
2x 10ml syringe
1x 2l measuring jug
1x 0.5l measuring jug
2x 10l plastic buckets
1x 15l bag hydroton
1x ph pen
1x 600w sunmaster dual spectrum bulb
1x spring loaded scissors
1x 15" oscillating fan

why not make your first grow a good one?, print this list, go to your local hydro shop and never look back.

this will do one grow easily, there are a lot more things you could buy to make it better, but believe me, you need nothing else to grow good weed.

Use dirt not coco IMO if your going to go with coco might as well just go hydro lol.

and skip the cooltubes if I were you go straight for something like an air cooled supernova, they provide the perfect spread for a 1.2 meter square tent and you will get much better coverage :)

GHB other than that the supernova and the soil its basically my tent but smaller :P

But your post is pretty fool proof as as GHB says it will grow good weed quickly and easily :)

I would go soil for first grow and get ph drops instead of pen. Simple and cheap. I just use lemon juice for ph down and it does not wreck the microbes in the soil.

For the hps I would get a Hortilux if you can afford it for the blue spectrum. A dimmer for the light would be good, you can veg that area with 200 watts easy.

Yeh will defo be going for soil anyway.I was looking at the ph drops didn't think they would be any good as they are so cheap but have read a few posts on here and a lot of people use them so I'll give them a shot.. Failing that I'll get a pen :-)

Thanks again for the help .

A 600w light is gonna get hot in that small a tent. I have a 4'x4'x7' tent with a 600w light and I have heat issues. Using a cool tube will mose def help cool things down, but that's still a lot of light for such a small tent

with a coolshade the temps should not be much more that 5 degrees of ambient,

Ok so rather than starting a new thread I bumped up my old one with a new problem,

Been thinking of the idea of a T5 for the veg stage of my grow I would be looking at veging max 5 at any one time, so which T5 would I need a 4 tube ?

Don't really know much about t5's so any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance mouse .. Your prob gona post up I appreciate it mate :-)

Never used em myself. The T5HO are supposed to be much better. They provide excellent spread but little penetration. Great for vegging I was looking at one but I decided it would be a waste of money because my 250 watt cfl does the job at the moment and when I replace that I want to go LED.

Make sure you get the biggest fittings you can fit in your space for the t5's and go with the High outputs if you can afford them, they are much better I have seen them in action.

Need anything else ? hehe
