You can top it to stimulate side ( lateral ) growth - let growth redistribute then as plant grows out you can begin LST training .
Topping removes the apex of plant and splits to 2 - or if you FIM it you get 4. Clean up bottom ( leaves that are in deep shade and touching soil. )

Once you get some lateral growth - you can top again. But let plant shape itself.
