Hey i got a 250w hps from htg supply and i was wondering if a cheap plug in the wall timerwould work or do i need a little bit more of a heavy duty timer. Im just trying to avoid buying one that would be too weak.

Cheap timer will work maybe, but my experience anyway is they burn out to quick with a 400w hps and can potentially ruin everything, go for heavy duty more expensive but worth every penny

I bought my digital timer at HomeDepot for roughly $19.95. I was a little worried about it holding up but have had no problems. On the packaging it had a picture of a window AC unit.

I just had to rebuy mine, do yourself a favour and just buy one that is just a little better than the cheapest. Good luck.

Check the timer's package to see what the amperage rating is. Its should be printed on the package.

Or just get one from HTG Supply, their prices are good.
