Tincture Question

Hi Folks,

Quick question on tincture. I took some "A" grade trim from my latest crop, dried and cured it then placed a bunch of it in a glass mason jar w/ 190 proof everclear. I've done this before. This time, however, after the tincture sits for a day or two there is a collection of what can only be described as "brown mud" on the bottom. It was a clean mason jar and nothing can grow in 190 proof alcohol so I am assuming this is the resin/tricome extract. I will say the trim was from the frostiest bud I have ever seen/grown.. which might explain the difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

The sludge is most likely the fines and the material that was liberated when the resins were dissolved. They are waste and are normally filtered out.

The longer soaks extract a lot of chlorophyll and water solubles, that many find objectionable. If you find your tincture tastes too greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen, you might consider using a QWET extraction for tincture.
