Tip pot method

Kind of, I let the cola grow, fall over then the buds grow sideways, depending on strain and if you megacrop it can give mega returns :p

(i don't do anything really, the cola falls itself and i'm too lazy and it's too sticky to touch)

they vegged it out vertically to the 5' side? then flowered under a 2 foot side? I don't see how that would even work if the sides were reversed. I'd love to see the thread!

found a few threads on here and other sites about using tents sideways, including a 32x32x64" micro sog. I am not sure if we are allowed to link to other forums so if u want to see it PM me.

i haven't been able to find the one where the person did the vertical scrog, then flipped the tent sideways for flower, but it is too crazy of an idea for me to think up myself, so I know it exists :)

Yeah that was a old-school way I have read about....in books....before the internet was involved.....lst works great though.

Never heard of putting a tent on its side.

the only threads on RIU i can find are people asking about it, or planning to do a grow that way.

theres threads on other sites with photos of people doing it to increase their horizontal growing footprint (they bought a 2x4x6 for instance, and decide to flip it sideways to turn 8sf into 12sf etc.)

View attachment 4745304 I think I invented this technique, check out my grow journal. Is this a good bus per foot ratio? You must start with thenproper container for the whole ‘tip’ part.My mistake is using a regular cloth pot. Hard to water and flush.
I'm pretty sure you didn't invent this. The inventor of this method is in the name of it, and your name doesn't seem to be "Tip Pot"

I think it would be useful for making double layers of growth. Stacking them one on top Another.

I have 2 2x3x4.5' tents now. maybe i will try it and flip them sideways and stack them. that will give me 50% more footprint for flower. will have to either scrog them or do a real zero veg sog. would also need to build custom strip fixtures that have 2x strips run super soft so I can keep it all the way at the top of the tent.

Or shoot the light upwards from the middle, and scrog the top plant to the ceiling. Have the lights in the middle shooting up and down.

that seems a little too outside of my normal grow method to try, but interestingly one of the threads on another site i saw someone was using vertical hanging HPS with plants scrogged vertically on the walls around it. seems like way too much work for me.

with scrog it was too hard for me to inspect the leaves and get at the whole plant once it was in place. with sog i can pull everything out and clean before the cycle is finished as well. that's what is interesting to me about the tip pot method bc u get the benefits of a scrog without having to deal with a screen. although still seems like it would be a pain to pull out of the tent easily.

that sounds like Heath Robinson his verts are crazy inventive but require huge plant counts, Google it

just checked it out. pretty cool. interesting approach and a good solution if you have some cooltubes to use. but besides needing to use rockwool (i guess u could do aeroponic this way too), it seems like a ton of work. i still like the idea of doing racks with 2 short tents of soft run led instead, especially if you aren't worried about plant count, and if u are, you can just scrog it. i'm gonna try it.

Flipping the tent would be well doable but you would 2x the light, you can't veg it then flip it and expect to use the same amount of light?

yes it does require some training but he claims to smash 2GpW might be worth the effort , it's also a method used in Holland but yet again plant count comes into play ...its a cowboy method gotta have no fucks given

yeah I dont remember if the original post I saw thry hung an hps bulb vertical for veg and then horizontal for flower? or switched lights.

im just going to use it flipped on its side the whole time, not start it vertical.

Johnny Boone is my hero in that department lol. im a little or a lot over # at times when cloning but ill admit I havent had the balls to do more than 99.

Also I'll just say it again, plant counts are dumb. They are an arbitrary applied law that has no basis in fact. It would make way more sense to base regulations off of canopy size or wattage used or something. the whole reason we have plant counts is the DEA says 1 plant = 1 pound which is false, illogical, and the reason plenty of innocent people are serving unfair jail terms for cultivation. Fuck that we need to speak up and change this shit before the corporate dollars squeeze out our voices. we have every right to grow the most efficient and easiest way possible.

At this point, wouldn't it just be the same as changing your lights from above to side lighting for vertical?

depends if you have a lot of vertical space or a lot of horizontal space.

I like this method because no ‘topping’ and slowing growth. You do have to cut the branches that point streight down and also the branches that point streight up. So that plant is flat. 9E29A87A-8986-4741-B6CD-467F606368C6.jpeg
