Tips for increasing height of grow light

I have been having an issue with the setup inside my grow tent. My light is adjustable with a rope and pully type system. The only problem is when I bring the light up to the highest point because of the lines and attachments on the hanger there is still about a foot of space above my light. Even getting 6 extra inches of height would be a helpful addition to the grow height. Anybody have any mounting tips? I get that I wouldn't want to put the light right to the top of tent as it would still need some space for circulation for heat reasons, but right now the space above the light seems excessive and a waste.
Does anyone else have this problem?

What type of fixture? Can you dim it? Some pics might help with ideas to help..
