I want to make a veg box that shud be able to hold 2-3 plants at a time. I am planning on using plywood to make a box about 3 feet in length and 2 ft high. Inside will be a ballast either with 2x24 inch t5 bulbs (1x10000k/1xblue actinic bulb) or 3 halogen lights with one t5. The inside of the box will be covered with a mylar survival blanket. I also am thinking about taking a 5 gal jug filling it with water and attaching a hose at the bottom that will be split into two hoses by a T adapter, attaching clamps around the hoses to have the water trickle out into the pots.

I need to know if this setup has any holes or mistakes, i want to put this in action soon. I will try and post a picture for the set up it shud make getting the idea easyer.

I would make it taller. closer to 4' at the absolute smallest, because think of the 5" at least taken up by the pots at the bottom, and then the distance taken up by the lights take from the top, as well as distance till being burned from the bulb and that gives you like 20" plants... gonna be hard to keep them that small without some serious training, and probably will have a lackluster yield.

forget the trickling water idea. look up drip irrigation if your interested in hands free/timer run watering.

How are you gonna vent?

a 115v->12v transformer from radio shack, and AC/DC Bridge rectifier, 2 good CFM computer fans and you have air movement for cheap.

make a baffled port off of the lower back of your box (kinda like this idea http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o296/wenn_du_weinst/15inch30hz42.png ) so that air can get in, but light cant get out (paint it black too). Put your fans on the top of your box blowing out so that it pulls air thru the passive intake, over your plants, over the t5's and out the top.

I think i might use two 30 gal rubbermaids and duct taping on on top of the other, put one fan blowing air out of the top and one on the side blowing air in from outside. I will use 4-6 65w cfl's, if 6, 4x6500k 2 2700k. If i use 4, 3 6500k 1 2700k. the inside will be covered with mylar blanket. i am thinking about using co2 how could i use it in this setup?

2 and a half feet minimum for height

for light, i've used CFL's.

6+ 42 watt bulbs. 3 daylight 3 soft white.

use clamp lights to put your lights together. walmart - 7 bucks a piece.

a multi plug is about 10 bucks, a timer about 15. all of this is with tax.

12vdc fans, or small 6 inch ones will work. they sell them at walgreens and walmart n stuff during the summer. online during the winter.

with 100-150 you could have all the 'electrical'.

for the actual box make sure you paint it white (most reflective) or line it with emergency blankets (very reflective!!) a can of spray paint or 2 packets of emergency blankets run about 8 bucks, either one works for growing.

what you make the 'box' out of is up to you!!!!!
